    Statement build

    Hello all,

I started with Paul Carmody's Overnight Sensations several years ago, building them with my father as a project. It was a lot of fun, and so last year we began planning the next project. After quite a lot of forum browsing and research, we decided on Jim Holtz and Curt Campbells' Statements. This post will show the various steps of that build. Pictures to come tomorrow.

Next up is the center channel. I will be using these in a fairly small room temporarily, and would like to use the 2RCC designed by Jed for Frodaddy. I have the drivers and crossover pieces at this point, but cannot seem to find diagrams for the cabinet layout/dimensions.

Anyone able to help me out with that bit?

    John

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Jim has annonced that he is on vecation and will be off the grid fore some weeks to come.
I do however think that you would find what you sre looking for here:

    (drawings on page two)

You should be aware that there are a version II of the statements as well:

Also, if you search this forum there are several other build threads for the statements.
Looking forward to see your progress!

I should have been a bit more clear, the Statements themselves(L/R) are already done, and now I am looking to do the 2RCC as my center.

Here we have the beginning, with driver's being delivered. All of the MDF has been rough cut at this point, and we're ready to begin.

Here we have the drivers mocked up to see what it will look like. The bases and port holes are cut, and then finally the front panels are cut, and holes for the speakers are routed out and tested for fit.

You were clear enough, I was in a hurry and did not read your ost well enough.
          My bad...

Here we put the midrange tunnels together, and fix all of the other bracing onto the back side of the cabinet and then install the midrange tunnels. The front face is then attached with glue and brad nails(This caused quite a lot more finishing work than expected, and I bought clamps to save the trouble for the next project). The front is oversized and a flush trim bit is used to make it line up to the sides of the cabinet.

              No worries TEK

Here we have finished the front roundover, then flip them over and do the back. Making sure to fill all of the holes where we attached the pieces together with the brad nails. More to come later!

Also, if anyone has the dimensions for the 2RCC center channel build, I need those!

              Thank you

Is this what you are looking for?

                Or this:

The one above was referre from this thread:
After build a pair of Statement speakers for my home theater to replace my Paradigm Monitor 7's, I knew I needed to build the Statement family matching center channel. Only there was one problem. In both my current theater and my planned (future) theater, I want to us an AT screen so having a large CC speaker that sits about 2

You might try to contact http://www.htguide.com/forum/member.php?13285-deewan or dumaresq via pm as they seems to have sketchup models of the cabinet.

Nice! Something has changed since last night and now I can see the sketchup drawing in the link you just provided. Thank you so much sir.

                  Continuing on:

Next we setup crossovers for both cabinets, and then scalloped the area behind where the drivers sit.

Here we add insulation to the inside of the cabinet, and wire the cross over up, leaving enough slack to be able to remove the speakers easily if needed. We opted to use white lacquer for the finish on the cabinet itself, and dark black lacquer for the bases. They will have a layer of clear added over the top as the final step. The front panels and cabinets are painted separately with primer and white lacquer, and then the front is glued on. Machine screws were used to help clamp the face to the cabinet(Since we did not have large enough wood clamps at the time).

Once the glue and paint have dried, the speakers are test fit, with the goal of them having a slight amount of play, since there will be quite a few layers of lacquer sprayed on after this.

Speakers are put in and tested before final painting to make sure everything is working well. They sound awesome, even being driven from a Pioneer amp(VSX 521k) that is not rated for 4 ohms.

Then back into the garage for final layers of paint, and then clear is added.

Finally they are finished just in time for me to move across the country for work. Temporarily they are in a much too small room, much too close to the wall. Eventually these will be the Left/Right channel for a home theatre.

Congratulations on a job well done!

                          Thank you,

Will start the 2RCC this week. We'll see now if I can manage to retain all of the things I learned from my father during the last builds.

Well I got fairly far along with the 2RCC, and for some reason I have no sound coming out of my midrange speakers. Both Woofers and the Tweeter seem to be working as intended, but nothing from the mids at all. Anyone able to see what I've done wrong just looking at a picture? If not it looks like I'm rebuilding a crossover.
