What are the forum rules?

HTGuide Forum Rules & Policies

If you want to participate with others on the HTGuide Forum, you will need to register. Registration is "free" and only takes about 2 minutes. A significant reason for the success of the HTGuide Forum is our insistence that all participants obey the simple set of rules posted below. If you can abide by the rules below please continue and click Register. If you feel these rules are unacceptable, thank you for your honesty, and we wish you the best.

To insure a prompt and quality response to your question or comment, you must post it to the proper forum. Consider the following guidelines before posting:

  1. You are not allowed to post the same message in multiple forums without permission from one of the HTGuide moderators.
  2. The use of profanity is not allowed. An "integrated watchdog" will monitor your post and attempt to expunge objectionable language.
  3. "Flaming" of other participants is strictly forbidden. Professional conduct is a primary requirement for participation on the HTGuide Forum.
  4. Spamming, in any form, is strictly forbidden.
  5. You may not use the HTGuide Forum to either advertise or promote commercial endeavors without permission from the Administrator. This includes direct posts, as well as, active links to other sites on the Internet. Direct all such requests through the Administrative forum.
  6. You may include URLs or active links to commercial sites for the purpose of expanding on comments or providing additional information as part of regular forum interactions.
  7. Direct Links to products or companies in direct competition to our advertisers are not to be hot linked. You can talk about them casually, but you can't link to them.
  8. When management action (moderation) occurs to one thread at the forum up to and including deletion of a thread, that event is not to be discussed in other threads/posts. Doing so will result in post being deleted, and warning not to do so again. Repeated violations will be grounds for membership termination.

REQUIRED: Your username may only alphanumeric characters including space(A-Z, 1-9). Punctuation or special characters are not allowed, and use of them will result in an administrator deleting your username profile. You may or may not get a warning with a new username issued. We strongly discourage usernames that do not create some kind of name for you to be called by. Therefore, if your username doesn't make good sense (Like SPPX1 for example), you must sign all your posts with a name people can call you by when responding to your posts.

Businesses CANNOT register as their business name. Only inidividual usernames are allowed, or initials that cannot be a business name by themselves. Businesses cannot sign their company name or logo in signature unless they pay a monthly fee for a Vendor Signature Usertype designation. Even then, specific limits are set on what is allowed. Interested business owners should contact HTGuide administration for program specifics.

The above rules will be strictly enforced. Continued violations may result in loss of HTGuide Forums privileges and complaints being lodged with your Internet Service Provider.

Other than enforcing the above rules, the management and staff does not attempt to control or validate any comments or recommendations provided by participants. As such, The HTGuide Forum are not responsible for any inaccuracies that may result in personal injury or damage.

Any post off the original topic in ANY thread may be deleted without notice by forum staff. It's our objective to keep discussions focused on the primary topic of interest.
