    Cisco Cable for RS232?

I think I'm finally going to update my RSX-1056, and I'm wondering if a regular cisco cable that is used for switches and routers will work? My receiver didn't come with the RS232 cable.

No, that's not an ethernet port. It's a true RS232 port with an RJ45 connector. You need an RJ45 to DB9 cable (pinned correctly as well). Your 1056 should have come with one. Give Rotel a call and ask. If not, I think they are only $15 or so from them.

You are correct, on both counts. I was able to connect to the receiver and see the initial boot message, but not able to send any comands or transfer with the cisco cable. So being as determined as I am after two years, I was either going to reterminate or make the cable if I couldn't find it in my box-o-cables. It was in the box, and it's upgrading now. Thanks!

I have a lot of feaure requirements that to me don't seem unreasonable but might seem demanding to others. I'm having a very difficult time narrowing down a reaonably priced $1000-$2000 preamp. I would really prefer a black front to match all my other components (plus I prefer my HT as black as possible...

I just bought a Rotel rt1080. This is my first rotel product ever. My question is how do I use the IO Port. Can I just hook it up to my switch and access it like a router via http (I highly doubt this is in fact the way to do so). I am going to college for computer science so I would like to write a...

Gidday Andrew/Danbry & all. It's BladeRnR (Sithlord's Brother). We've just watched Matrix - Reloaded and The Lion King Special Edition. Matrix - Reloaded is a Region 4 and suffered from the lower dB but once cranked a few notches higher the soundtrack was stupendous. The freeway scene is just one...
