    Bi wiring the RB 1080

    Hi,
My set up is a NAD PRE, RB 1080 power and B&W 603 s. The 1080 has 2 sets of speaker terminals though the manual does not indicate so!!!! Any way my question is whether it is better to use all the provided terminals in a biwire set up?
At the moment they are clubbed into 1 positve and 1 negative at the amp end as my earlier amp had only 1 set of terminals.
This may be a dumb question for you guys but would using both sets of terminals amount to halving the power/impedence?
Here in India the rotel dealer just cannot guide you in any way?
    Awaiting a reply. Thanks.

Nope, those terminals are in parallel with one another. They are electrically tied together, just inside the amp chasis.

      Biwiring the RB 1080

HI Thanks a ton for your time. I will biwire it the way explained and will use both sets of binding posts. If nothing else it will give me a solid connection to the Kimber banana pins i am using. Pushing two Van Den Hul CS 122 wires into 1 pin is a head ache. Thanks again.

        Hi dinyaar,

B&W recommends that their speakers should be bi-wired to get the best performance out of them. That's why they provide two sets of binding posts on the back of their speakers. If you do decide to bi-wire then make sure that you remove the little piece of metal (or wire) that connects the binding posts together on the back of your speakers. If you change your mind later and go back to a single speaker wire then don't forget to put that little piece of connecting metal back.

        Nigel.

RB-1080 question - Double Binding Posts
            by Belgarath99
            Hi

I bought a demo Rotel RB-1080 last week to power my front speakers. As it is a demo unit, I did not get a manual with it. The unit has double binding posts on the rear panel.

My Dynaudio speakers does not have bi-terminals for bi-amping/bi-wiring. Does anyone know whether...

            Can I bi-amp with RSX 1067 and RB 1080?
            by Trevgrif
Hi. This is my first posting. I am about to take delivery of an RSX 1067, RB 1080 and RDV 1050. I am running B&W 805s fronts with B&W DM600S3 surrounds. Is it possible to feed the 1067 front speaker outputs to the tweeter terminals of the 805s and the output from the 1080 to the mid range terminals?...

RB 1080 A/B speaker terminal switch?
            by bleeding ears
Hi guys, just a quick question on how the RB1080 (with 8 speaker terminals on back, not 4 ) switches from "A" speakers to "B" speakers?

Is there a switch on the front or back panel?

Rotel's website does not show any switches on the unit for A/B speakers,...

            RB-1080 as an upgrade...?
            by weijst
            Hi all,

I'm driving my B&W 705s (and HTM7) with the rare combination 1068/1075 . However, ever since I bought my Rotel gear I've been fascinated by the RB-1080 (or the RB-1090 for that matter, but that's beyond my budget).

Now I'm thinking about investing in a better...
