11 years ago I built the overnight sensations while living in the UK, they were appropriate for budget and space. In 2015 we moved back home to Australia, so in early 2015 I bought all the parts for this build. Since then I've built a house (as a owner builder), had our second child and now it's finally time to build my speakers after having all the parts on the shelf for 6 years.
I've had some experience with CNC and mach3, and wanted to do rebated edges so everything self jigs. So I bought a 1.5m x 1.5m queen bee kit last year and build it at the start of the year.
Work and other commitments then got in the way, so I finally started the actual speakers build a few weeks ago. Took me a little while to sort out gremlins in the machine, but running nicely now.
First up, sub parts
Then moving on to the 4 x finalist parts and centre channel ...
Test fitting drivers... parts are so old I've still got the RS28f..
Sub gluing
First Sub done, minus roundovers. There's hidden magnets for a grill if the Mrs wants it.
So that's where I'm at. Hoping to get the second sub and centre glued up tomorrow.
The sub's I'll have sprayed in 2 pac satin black, the 7 x speakers done in American red oak with a darkish stain, similar to the ATMOS speakers I did awhile ago but a bit darker.
