Continued...
Then I began the process of cutting out the openings for the midrange chambers...
I again took measurements from the speakers to be sure I have the openings exactly where they needed to be...
I then transfered those measurements onto the wide 5 inch curves...
Photo one and two show the end results of cutting the midrange opening gaps out of the wide curves...
Once those were all cut out I then began gluing the three layers of curves together - being sure to keep all the parts together for each individual speaker and correctly orienting top and bottom...
The last two pictures show the curves properly glued up and clamped...
Again, the two skinny side strip curves are exactly 1" wide each... And, the middle wide curve is 5" wide... That accounts for the 7" wide rear of the speaker and made cutting out the 5" x 5" midrange opening very easy and straightforward...
Once the glue has finished drying I will drill the holes for the ports and for the binding posts...
I was really nervous about this part because if I messed up badly that would mean rebuilding and entire curve... However, everything went off without a hitch... :T
More to come...
And, again, thanks for all your answers/ideas/suggestions over the past couple of days with my questions...
