    1066 - new or used?

Thanks to the help of many here on these boards, as well as over at audioreview.com, I've decided to get a Rotel RSP-1066.

The question now is whether to buy new or slightly used. I've found several used pieces available for $1250+/- (with all the latest upgrades). To buy new, I'd have to pay about $250 more than that. ($1500 discounted, but with CA tax)

I don't believe that Rotel warantees are transferable. So how much of a risk is it to buy a used piece without a warantee? Is it worth $250?

    Thanks or your input.

    -Craig

I am purchasing the RSP-1066 used for $1050 and the original purchaser is giving me a copy of the receipt and when I talked to Rotel (because I am bringing it to them for the hardware fix for the bass management issue), he told me that it would be fine and the warranty would be valid, I always figure, when in doubt call them.

PS: picking it up today and bringing it to Rotel (driving to them) on Tuesday.

$1050!!! I've never seen one that cheap!!

Though I love hearing that Rotel was cool with the warantee. I guess I should email them and ask as well. If so, I'll definately be buying the used piece.

      Thanks

Yes, $1050. I love to haggle I tried to get it for $1000, but $1050 was the lowest and threw in 2 toslink cables.

Rotel prides itself on looking after its customers so I'm sure if you had the original reciept they'd look after you.

            Help - RSX-1055 / RB-1050 - redirect feature
            by dmcgowan
Just relocated my gear in our living room and I'm having a bugger of a time to get the redirect to work again. I used to have the RB-1050 driving the front left and right channels but decided that it would be better to use the RB-1050 for the 2 x centre back channels.

            Sure it is all connected...

I haven't posted in a long time because I have been so happy with the gear I purchased in 2004 with the help of some of you. I live in NYC and space in my apartment is at a premium. To make the best use of my limited space, I used wall mounted speakers. Thus, in my home theater (f/k/a as a dining...

            RDV-1050 stopped working in DTS???
            by chinets
            Hi Everyone,
I am using a RDV 1050 loaner from my dealer here, because my RDV 1060 had a major manufacturer problem in the laser allignment.
The RVD 1050 loaner was working fine for the past several days with DTS and everyhting.
Now yesterday ,when I tried out a DVD, because...

Recently I sold my Anthem MCA-5 power amp to upgrade two channel performance. The amp I ordered for main L/R is on order and I decided to buy a used Rotel RB-1050 to power surround speakers down the road, but until my main amp arrives, the RB-1050 is my main amp. I bought it used.

            Will RR-1050 Work With RSX-1055 Rev. 1?
            by bresna
I recently purchased a used RSX-1055 and it came with the RR-969 remote. I notice that the RR-1050 has the input selector buttons above the sliding door... I'd like that. Someone over on AudiogoN is offering a straight-up swap of an RR-969 for an RR-1050. Will I be able to take him/her up on this offer?...
