    RSP 1098 TFT Stretches 4:3

Some of my DVDs are 4:3. However, whatever I do, the 1098's TFT display stretches this material the full width of the display. I do, however, get a proper 4:3 ratio from my monitor when I take the composite signal that is feeding the TFT and use it to feed the monitor. Is this something lacking in the 1098, or am I doing something wrong? Can others get a proper 4:3 aspect ratrio on the RSP 1098's TFT screen?

I think that is probably normal. You can not expect too much from that little TFT. I mean, it is probably used mainly for on screen display from most people. I have not played around with the TFT too much, but does it say in the owners manual that you can change the TFT format?

Are you watching DVD's on the TFT?? As far as I know you can't change the aspect, it's going to stretch everything. But for what its worth, does it really matter?

Technically you can buy a Rotel 1040 or 1050 DVD player. It has the ability to send 4x3 DVD's out as 4x3 with black bars on the sides..

        not watching

I am not watching the DVDs on the 1098, just curious that it stretches 4:3. My Sony 9000ES player sends 4:3 out to my main display with black bars on the side just fine. I am surprised that a signal that the main display gets right is stretched by the TFT. If this is how it is, fine, it is not really a big deal. I just wonder if I am doing something wrong.

          TFT Screen Composite Input Workaround?
          by Ethek
I just purchased a RSP-1098 and discovered to my dismay, that my DVD player (Sony DVPNS999ES) only outputs to one video connection at a time, i.e. if cables are attached to the component video out (to the monitor) and composite video out (to the RSP), the 999ES defaults to the component only. The other...

          TFT screen to compliment RSP-1068
          by Jamil
Anyone know of a good TFT screen to hookup to RSP-1068 (similar to the panel which is built into 1098) to access OSD and make audio adjustments a lot easier. I am thinking it will have to be connected via S-video. You can tell I do not have the video aspect of the a/v incorporated in the mix at this...

          Hi,

This updated list is based on feedback on the V1.0 list published in a separate thread within this forum and a second consolidated view of all the other threads I can find in this and several other...

My comparision of RSP 1098 to Denon AVC A1SE+ (AVR5803) (long)
          by Ossi
So the last 2 days I have been listening intensively to the RSP 1098 and my “old” Denon AVC A1SE+ which is more known as AVR 5800+ (with upgrade) in the US.
This comparison does only represent personal view of both units side by side. However I thought it might be interesting to let you guys...

Rotel RSP 1098 Wish List V1.0
          by Aussie Geoff
          Hi,

As a long time lurker and “newbe” member of this forum I thought I’d start a service of managing a list of suggested upgrades to the RSP 1098. Thanks to all the helpful advice from this forum I have my order in for a 1098 of my own (waiting on the DTS-ES issue being fixed).
