    10 year old RX-1052

I have a ten year old Rotel RX-1052 and have a few questions. The old speakers I was using have bit the dust. Is the RX-1052 worth keeping? If so, should I have it tested?

Also, I was thinking of getting Axiom M22 v4 bookshelf speakers, as the room isn't very large. Is that a good choice? If so, and I decide to add a subwoofer, any recommendations?

    Thanks

The RX-1052 is an excellent 100 watt 2 channel stereo receiver! I suggest you dust it off and fire it up to see if it still works. If it works.......well then.......it works! No testing needed. This amp will destroy any bookshelf sized speaker and drive them with ease!

Your choice of speakers seems fine but Paradigm, PSB and B&W are also excellent choices too. I would suggest that you buy a powered sub (10 inches or larger) that matches your mains, both in model series and driver composition for a more seamless sound.

      RX1052 as preamp with RB1080
      by b&w fan
I just bought a RB-1080 power amplifier (not in yet) which I am going to coupled to a RX1052 receiver that will work as preamplifier. I delayed the purchase of a dedicated preamp just to reduce the pressure on my cash flow. My speakers are a pair of B&W 703.

      Do you think that using...

Got a new dual mode sander for my birthday/Xmas last weekend.

Can be used as a rotary unit (fast material removal, or for final polishing) or switched to random orbit. You can read more about it at the mfr's site. Didn't paste the link directly for that as it uses frames and doesn't...

      by rodH
I am looking to do something that isn't too small (like so many desktop/computer monitors using a <4" mid) and isn't too big (many "bookshelfs" out there really arent true "bookshelf" in size). I have a main system than consists of Mc Pre/pro and amps, with B&W 804s...

      Hey Lads,

I lurk here and on Thomas' IB Forum on a regular basis and I've a dilemma which the rather knowledgable posters here seem qualified to answer.

I just dug out and fired up a pair of vintage mid-80's Meridian M30 active bookshelf speakers. They've been unused for...
