    Rlc-1040

Hi there. I'd like to get a beefy good power cable for my system. I am wondering should I buy just one to feed the power conditioner. Or buy more for after the conditioner to the components?

The cord to the power conditioner is not removable.

OK, I take that back. Just looked in the manual, and apparently is is removable. Guess I haven't pulled mine out of the cabinet in a while...

Every cable is part of the system... if you can afford it replace them all and that way you can't think of one of them as being the "weak-link"

So there is a point in good power cables POST power conditioner?

I was one of the people that never believed. I've upgraded just about every part of my system. One thing I have to say it over the typical stock cables... yes I've noticed a difference...and you don't have to go insanely expensive with them, but they can make a difference.

Now, i don't think it's going to be a night and day type of a difference. For me I noticed subtleties that I hadn't gotten before with things. Almost like a slight adjustement to a lens on a camera that (while the pictures were amazing before), add just a little extra clarity. That's what I experienced with my audio with the better cables. Also my sound stage opened up a little bit more (got a little better with the 3D depth to music that I didn't have before).

The biggest 3D depth change I got was from modifying my APC S20BLK power conditioner and battery backup. I soldered all the connections throughout it and for SOME reason my sound staged moved back. I have B&W speakers that are always known as forward and now my soundstage is pushed back to the plain of the speaker instead of being infront of the speakers. That's been my favorite thing I've done for my system. I've even had this confirmed by another on HTGuide here that really couldn't believe that change could do so much to improvement.

So you I think every change you make you have to justify if it's for the better or not. For Audio, we don't "improve" sound, we make everything come to a synergy that works best for our ears.

Are you speaking just solely on power cables? Or all cables? Because I'm in the process of getting new interconnects and speaker cables.

I think all cables can effect the sound for better or worse... It's really finding a synergy across everything.

For me, my system loves Silver interconnects and good copper on the power and speaker wires...but that isn't a golden rule for everyone's system...each person hears differently and likes different aspects of the overall sound range. So other's may like different kinds and even different types of each cable.
