I just picked up RLC1040 this past weekend and got it all hooked up Saturday morning. I have 50" Pioneer plasma, Rotel RSX1057, Rotel RDV1050 and an old VCR. I'm not expecting any improvement in sound or PQ, but just looking for the peace of mind. Not that I've had any power issues but since my house is old (50+ years) and we typically do have power outages for short durations a few times every year I was looking for a protection.
The same day that I hooked up RLC1040, my family was out for about 4-5 hours and when we returned I noticed that the unit's power was off. I checked the alarm clock to see if it was blinking, to see if there had been power outage but it wasn't blinking. Since then, after I turned the unit back on, it has stayed on. Is it safe to assume there was some sort of power issue that caused the unit to shut itself off? Should the unit power itself back on to standby mode once the power problem has been restored as stated in the manual? This is my first experience with a power conditioner and wonder if this is normal.
