I haven't had both of them side by side, but the info that Rotel sent to us at launch had said the RB-1582 and RB-1552 were brand new inside and out. The power outputs are the same but that is all they share from what my rep has said.

Difference on the back panel, the 1582 doesn't have a balanced input and thus no switch to "switch" between balanced and unbalanced.Comment

I hope someone can answer a couple of questions regarding the RC 1090 and the RB 1090 balanced connection switch...
What does the switch do ? why does the manual say that both balanced and unbalance connections should not be used at the same time ?

As mentioned in my earlier post, I just added an RB1080 to power my front speakers. And the result is, in a word, WOW. Soundstaging, detail and bass oomph are much better than with my other, ageing power amps -- B&K ST2002 and Marantz M500 monoblocks.

RB 1080 is an excellent amplifier and I am proud owner (plus RSP 1066 and
RMB 1075). It has balanced inputs and I wonder if somebody use them.
