Mains are B&W 663,Center B&W HTM 62,Surrounds B&W 685, Sub B&W ASW610. Receiver Rotel RSX-1057, front powerd by Rotel RB-1080 through preouts on 1057.Default crossover setting for all speakers was set at 100, with all speakers set as small.I lowered the crossover on all but the sub to 80 and left sub at 100.My question is should I lower the sub crossover to 80 also ? Also what should my low pass frequency be set at on the sub?100? or 80?Also should I leave the switch on the back to in or out?It was explained in a previous thread that in means the sub controls the crossover and out means the receiver controls the crossover. When I put it in the out position it seems there is more bass than when it is in the in position and set at the same crossover as the receiver.Should it not be the same? I am confused .Any help explaining this to me is appreciated. Also should I set the crossover on the fronts even lower? Thanks.

Hey. I just went through a similar situation. I set my speakers to small because I like the use of the sub and then I set all my crossover settings to 80. I think its personal preference. When I listen to acoustics I will sometimes change everything to 60hz. But my sub is the same as the fronts. When its higher it seems to muddle the speakers. I use Paradigm studios 100's v3's my center channel is a cc570 and my rears are studio 20's. I also use a B&W sub asw675. Heres a little imut on the sub settings for you that I got and it made alot of difference. On the back of the 675 (or whatever yours is), set the lowpass filter to OUT, EQ to A for a lower end and tighter bass, phase to 0. Good luck

I assume you meant you have the 683. If that is the case, it's a pretty full range speaker and I would suggest you lower the front and sub crossovers to 60Hz, or 80Hz at the highest. The center and rears could be left at 80Hz as well. Try the rears at 100Hz as well as 80Hz, but keep the fronts and the sub no higher than 80Hz. With the amp you have running the front speakers you will get more mid-bass dynamics and more "punch" from your system if you keep the crossover on the low side for you front speakers. The sub will sound better if the crossover is lower as well.
As slyther3 said, make sure the crossover (the low pass filter switch) is turned off on the sub. You don't want two crossovers in the same circuit. You get what is call shelving and it causes all sorts of bad sound quality.

Thanks will try that....what about the low pass frequency control ?When setting it for out does that make the low pass frequency control inactive as it can be set from 0 to 140.Should I set it at 60 if setting fronts and sub in receiver to 60?Thanks.Or should I set to it max @140.Last edited by Opus007; 09 December 2007, 22:03 Sunday.- Bottom

Did as suggested . I crossed the fronts and sub @60.Left the rears and center @80.And yes it made a big differnce setting the sub to out ,phase 0 ,eq to A.Has more punch and sub blends nicely with the mains. Thanks for the patence and help.- Bottom

by Russ LI run the speaker wires for my bookshelf speakers through my sub. The crossover is set for 150Hz so the sub handles the lower bass. My question is: If I want to biwire my B&W bookshelfs can I just run the biwire from the sub to the bookshelfs or do I have to run the biwire between the amp and sub...-

by terry78I purchased a RSP-1066, RMB-1075, and RDV-1080 in December and have been trying different settings with my Paradigm speakers. My dealer told me to use the 1066's 80 Hz sub crossover point and set the sub's internal crossover to 150 Hz (i.e., its max position). My sub is a Paradigm PW-2200. After a month...-

by ICEMAN70Hi guy's
I allways had my sub crossover on the Rotel RSX 1057 on 100hz. I have a large room and like little bit more bass. Recently i got a new Paradigm Servo 15 V2 to replace my old mission Sub. Anyways now i developed a Poping sound when the receiver changes settings from prologic to...-

by neb001I plan on building a set of Zaph's B3S speakers, with integrated amp (exact model TBD, most likely a 41hz.com amp), and a sub consisting of a Tang Band W5-1138SM paired with a Dayton 70W amp. My friend that I plan on giving this to mostly uses their (completely underwhelming) current speakers for their...-
