    RMB-1077 or RB-1092 ?

804S are going through 1057 at the moment, in stereo getting 100w.
If I get 1092 for fronts , the rest will be off 1057
If 1077 I could bi-amp the front and center.

How much improvment will I see w. 1077 bi-amped compare to what I get at the moment ? or should I just get 1092 and the rest of 1057?

    Hi,

IMO unless you really really are into stereo (in which case you may want to consider a different stereo only pre-amp - I'd get the RMB-1077 now and bi-amp as you suggest - the 1077 does a magic job with the 804S and sure the 1092 is even better but really you want more the 803D (better still 802D) and up to take advantage of it. And the 1077 will tranform your HT as well for a bonus!

I would always go for the bigger amp rather than bi-amping. (btw, I'm bi-amping my 1077 right now) - and I feel the need to plonk down more money to buy bigger front amps.

        what speakers you are running?
I'm thinking more of 1077 as I'm about 50/50 but do enjoy more and more music. I almost traded my 804S for N802 (didn't go through), but would like to in future and don't really want to go through another upgrade.
the upgrade could take years, but sometimes things come up and might happen faster. 804S might not get everything out of 1092 but I assume N802 or 802D would be good match.
        thanks for info. guys.

Infinity beta 50 left and rights ... its rated rather high in terms of sensitivity but it does have dual 8" woofers.

I just felt that my previous rotel amp with 180wpc made the towers louder than my current setup. (this is only when using as large - no sub)

            Aussie Geoff,

Have you heard the 1077 in Perth? (Brisbane here, as there's no Stereo Supplies or Encel here anymore, don't think anyone else has Rotel). I recall you talking about the Bel Cantos (Pat WAR Audio). Is the 1077 up there transparency wise?

I just got the system you suggested and I too am about 50/50 music/HT. I have 804S mains bi-amped with the 1077 driving them (and using the 1057 as a pre-pro). The other day I had it up to 80 on the volume and I was standing next to one of my friends and we could barely hear one another (this is in a large room 20x40x10). So it can drive them loud enough with no clipping.

I spent a lot of time agonizing over this and I listened to it quite a bit before I did go with the 1077. To my ears with these speakers, I just could tell much difference between the 1077 and the 1092 in two channel, but both sounded like much more headroom than the 1057 by itself.

The key for me was being able to drive more speakers (I have a 7.1 set up)with the 1077 and the guidance of the sales person who said for these speaker set up I wanted the 1077 would give me the most flexibility and not cause the 1057 to run so hot.

Hopefully you can audition them and let us know what you think?

P.S. How do you like the Oppo? I just got one and am going to calibrate the TV and the DVD this week, so far the PQ seems good even uncalibrated.

Best of luck with your decision.

For the money I really like Oppo, I've went few upconverting players, reading revies, but once I recieved it I was wow, this looks really good.

About the setup, are you bi-amping yours or no. I have been looking for amp for a while and hate making this choise. Rotel 1090 is on option too (used) and Bryston 4b sst as well. So I'm just trying to find as much info. as posible for people around. I've seen 1077 for 1000.usd. and like new condition. I think it is very good price.

I now own a RMB-1077 For me it was right up there with the Bel Canto Evo 2, 4 and 6 at well under 1/2 the price. Similar amazing transparent midrange and ability to drive welll beyond it's class. I note that Bel Canot have now moved on from the Tri-Path processors to the same B&W Ice-Power Processes as Rotel.

Now the NuForce Ref 9 from Pat's WAR Audo is better again and would be (currently) my next upgrade.

According to International Dynamics in Melbourne there are two Rotel 10 series dealers in Brisbane Stereo Supplies Unit 10/12 Upton St, Bundall and Living Entertainment 110 Morayfield Rd, Caboolture

Yes I am bi-amping, I played around with it both ways and for me I thought the 804S played cleaner at loud levels (Green Day and Metallica), but could not tell as much of a difference at lower volume levels (Nora Jones). I am only bi-wiring the center (the HTM3S), can't tell much difference there. The sales guy I was working with really was strong in his recomendation to bi-amp B&W 800 series.

I agree with Geoff I really liked the sound the 1077 produced on these speakers and again for me it helped with all of the speakers I wanted to drive. I did not listen to the Bel Canto or the nuforce both of which have gotten good reviews.

I really liked the McIntosh and Classe sound better, but I had already 3X'ed my home theater budget :boohoo: .....felt like this gave me the best sound for the money. P.S. if you can get it for $1000 I would jump at it :T

Good luck, hopefully you can demo?

Thanks Geoff, both those places are an hours drive. Bundall is Gold Coast and Calboulture is on the way to the Sunshine Coast, shame nowhere is Brisbane itself seems to have them now. Might have to go for a drive. Mind you, Pat at WAR is offering an eVo6 at a similar price to the ROtel now that the model is discontinued.

                        Sadly Disappointed by the RB-1092

I was running some errands today that inadvertently brought me near a Rotel dealer. I had some extra time on my hands so I thought I would pop in and see what changes have taken place since my last visit, which wasn’t that long ago. One of the salesmen, that I have gotten to know pretty well, was...

Hi I'm new to posting on the board, but I've been a visitor for about 2 yrs.

Over the past 4 months I've been checking out the 2 above mentioned amps since I'm really attracted to the smaller size with the really big sound. Here are the reviews I posted on another board I frequent....

                        Hello group,

My amp that I was using to get me by until the new 1068 version comes out later in the year...has a dead left channel...forcing my upgrade issue.
(looked for a blown fuse, but not it)

Last weekend I received a RB-1092 that had been used for demo for a price I couldn’t resist, I originally was looking for a RB-1090 but after reading 3 professional reviews (plus reviews of bel canto ref-1000 and other Class D – “manufacturers” with ice) and reading the impressions from users...
