Hi,
I am new to HTGuide so I apologize if this is a re-run of an older thread.
I have a Rotel RSP-1068 that I purchased a few years ago. Its suddenly having a lot of problems. The Front L/R channels are dead and occasionally it appears to just lose sync with the audio source and go completely silent (at least the remaining channels go out: center, rear and sub). Power cycling seems to help this second issue but the front L/R channels are dead.
I am taking it in to get it fixed at the shop where I purchased it but I was wondering if anybody could comment on my following questions:
- Is this a chronic issue with Rotel processors? I thought they were pretty highly regarded so I am pretty surprised by this. Is reliability an issue with Rotel?
- This thing runs REALLY hot. Even when its idle its scorching hot. As near as I can tell its always hotter than my 5-channel Rotel AMP. I can only assume this has played a role in its current condition. Is this normal for Rotel? Is this normal for all comparable surround processors?
Any feedback here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike
