    sub with 1052

    hey all

Friend of mine just bought a Rotel rx 1052 for 2 channel. they are using a pair of B && W 705's. they bought a sunfire sub to augment low bass, i was going to hook it up, but there is no sub input on this model, i suppose i just use speaker cable and hook it up to the second set of speaker inputs?

any help before i blow there house up much appreciated

    :-)

To get the best overall response, run the speaker outputs to the sub and then to the 805's. This will use the crossover on the sub,so no double bass. If this isn't easy or the Sunfire doesn't have speaker outs, running it to the same or the other speaker output is fine. It's not going to draw any watts, just tap the signal.

      Hi Kevin

OK, thanks so much, i was thinking it would be nice to bi-amp/wire the 705's with the 2 output's for the speakers and piggy back the sub to that

what do you think of that?

      thanks

It will just be bi-wiring it since it's the same amplifier outputs. If you wanted to bi-wire and still utilize the crossover, run one set directly to the top terminals on the speaker. Take the second set and run it to the speaker in on the sub and then from the speaker out to the lower terminals on the speaker.

Like I said, using the sub's crossover will create a better blend from sub to speaker. It isn't required however, you can certainly hook it up in parallel with the speakers and see how it sounds first.

          Sunfire Subwoofer

It appears that my ears prefer the wavelength of a smaller driver. After trying dual then one Velodyne DD18 in my room, I found that they were not able to produce the musical bass I like. Then I moved to the Sunfire Signature 12” and found some improvement but similar negative results. While I feel...

          Hi all,

I just did a major renovation on my home and have networked the whole house for video and audio. I purchased an Escient Vision system and want to extend the audio to my master bedroom. Since this is not the main listening area, I decided to go for a low key 2 channel system and...

          by Club1820
Hello everyone. Would appreciate some help. I recently purchased a M&K Sub VX-860SF 250 Watts used on Audiogon. The sub was originally purchased in Nov 05' so its pretty much new. I looks beautiful (Cherry Veneer) and does in fact look brand new. I hooked it up last night to my 1052 and was...

          Rx 1052 plus Subwoofer
          by gimpgutter
Hi, this is my first post here. My dad just purchased a Rotel RX-1052 stereo receiver. He was also looking at the B&W CM4 speakers which he was VERY pleased with. His only concern was the lack of deep bass. Going from his 25 year old 12" Cerwin Vega's to these was a step in the wrong direction...

Okay, my Sunfire True Mark IV has some damage, so I had to send it back to Sunfire. But wait, Sunfire says you can take it back to your dealer and have them send it in. Cool, maybe I can get my dealer to loan me another sub while mine is in the shop. Sure enough my dealer says I loan you the Sunfire...
