    Newbie needs help

Hello all, I'm currently shopping to upgrade my old Yamaha RXV 870 to a Rotel RSX 1055. I have since missed out on a sale but there is now an apporutnity to buy these: 1. RDA-975 2. RSP-980 and 3. RB-985. I know these are old units but I will be satisfied with Dolby Digital. I like my two Channel experience with music and love to watch movies as well. Will this be a good deal for 500 bucks ? or should I stick with an A/V Receiver like the RSX series? I would also be interested to anyone selling. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I entered into Rotel with an RSP-980 from a Yamaha 850. The 2 channel was intensley better, the surround modes were not bad, the only thing being you need to buy the outboard processors for the different surround formats. RD-xxx, I forget the models but the 980 is only capable of 1 or 2 types internally. But again, it blew the Yamaha away at 2 channel. It also betters the RSX-1055 for 2 channel. The amazing thing is I see the RSP-980 go on ebay ocassionally for as low as $200, which is a bargain.

Hello all - new forum lurker and first time poster here with a few questions about the RSX 1055.

      1. I understand there are both black and silver finishes - is there any extra charge for the silver?
      2. Is there an A/B speaker switch? I'd like to use this for a home theater + 2 outdoor...

Hi, I've been a lurker for 6 months. I am going upgrade my reciever and speakers within the next year. I like most are on a limited budget. I've got the problem that my wife wants the Cewin Vega D-9's out of the living/dining room "too big". So I started looking at speakers JM Lab, Klipsch,...

Given our HT situation, which a/v receiver would you recommend: the RSX-1055 ($799) or Yamaha RX-V1400 (approx. $550):

My husband and I are purchasing a plasma television for our master bedroom, and we'd like to set up a small 5.1 system for 80% television (emphasis on HD viewing when...

      RSP980's bass management ?
      by formica
I've got a RSP980 prologic preamp and have been using the 6 channel analog input with my DVDA player. My question has to do with how the preamp deals with the LFE output in different modes, particularly in the 6 channel bypass mode. The reason being that if I adjust my sub level using the integrated...

I have a Yamaha RX-V1400 with B&W 601S3's main, LCR60 center and 600S3's rears, I'm thinking about getting the Rotel RSX 1056. Will that make a huge difference in sound quality? Thanks guys.
