Problems with analog vs digital 1068

    I have a strange problem.
If i put in a CD (Level 42 Running in the family, track 2)
(With this CD its very easy to hear the difference)
At the start of the song the guitar is in the rigth channel (digital)
When i switch to analog, and start the same song again, the guitar is in the left channel.
I have the same problem if i do the same with my satelitt.

    The cables is connected correctly.

Never seen or heard of that problem. Which one is correct?

The problem may be that all you cables, both from the player and to the power amplifier(s) , are connected in the wrong way to the 1068.
The digital connection is only a single cable, so that must be allright.

What happens when you use the test tone of the 1068 (in surround mode, not in stereo) ?
If the connections are correct, the tone goes in the following order: L-C-R-R surround - Center back - L surround - SW.
With 1098 I see the names in the display, I don't know if 1068 works the same (I think it does)

Which player are you using? Do you have another cd player you could use?

I am currently using Metz DE 81 dvd. (Same as pioneer DV 717)
Dvd is connected with coax cable. + Analog phono cable.
Parabol tuner with optical cable. + Analog phono cable.
All the cables are connected correctly.
            Test tone OK.

Well, I have a Pioneer DVD717 and it works perfectly and has done for 6 years with 4 different amplifiers (maybe even 7 due to loaners while my Pioneer AX10 was being repaired, the reason why I switched to Rotel)

I think the only thing left to do is loan a DVD player and connect it. If it's still switching the sides there is a problem with the Rotel (or try you DVD with another amplifier). The same problems with your satellite suggest also that the Rotel is not correct.

There's an easy way to test whether problem is in the DVD player or the Rotel 1068: unplug ONE of the analog interconnect cables between the DVD player and the 1068.

For example, if you unplug the Left cable, and the sound disappears from the Left speaker, then the Rotel is doing the correct thing, and the analog output of the DVD player is the problem. If the Right channel disappears from the speakers, then the problem is in the 1068 or further downstream.

Problem is the analog is correct! Know a way to disable one channel of the digital connection??
