    Rsp1066 Internal Volume Settings

Is there anyone that can give me some advice on the individual volume settings for each speaker in the setup menu.

These settings obviously have an effect on the master volume. I have my fronts @ +8, Center @ +9, surrounds @ +6 and sub-woofer @ 0. Are these too high? or should I set them pro-rata lower (ie +5,+6,+3) and increase the master volume when listening.

With the current set-up I have the master volume at 50. Does the internal speaker volume setup have an effect on the overall sound quality?

    Some assistance/experience will be appreciated

    Its all relative!
fronts @ 0, Center @ +1, surrounds @ -2 and sub-woofer @ -8 should have the same SPL with a master volume of +58. Personally, I find those numbers easier to get my head around too! Often sub's have their own gain control - you could try adjusting yours (increase it) so the RSP1066 sub setting isn't so far away fromt the others.

Have you ever used an SPL (sound pressure level) meter to calibrate your speakers?

        Many thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I have not yet used a SPL meter to calibate the speaker levels.

You can not accurately calibrate without an SPL meter. Even those of us that have been doing this for some time can get close with our ears but all to often we're out by more then we'd care to admit when we check the levels with the meter. At a minimum adjust each speaker so that the levels appear to sound the same when you're seated at the primary listening position...though it can be difficult to do. There are DVD's that offer test tones that you likely own already (THX) that might help if they have tones that quickly move around the room vs. one at a time. Still if at all possible look into buying an SPL meter as they're usually pretty affordable and very useful.

            PS3 + RSP-1570 and Master audio?
            by Tomahawk
            Hi.

I have connected my PS3 with HDMI to my Rotel RSP-1570.
The PS3 sound settings are set (Settings->Sound setting->Audio Output Settings ->HDMI-Automatic->Setting List, and all options are ticked off).

When playing a Blu-ray movie with DTS-HD Master...

my much cared for Rotel rsp1066 which gets minimal use now wont switch on via the ON button on the supplied remote, I need to switch it on manually. Further when I update the OSD with Input names and switch the unit off, the names disappear. This never used to happen..
