Is Rotel responsive to requests for improvements/additions to RS-232 features?

I would like to see Rotel add the following features to its RS-232 protocol on the RSX-1055:

    - Ability to set discretely and query the current volume level

    - Ability to set discrete Mute On and Mute Off and to query Mute status

I don't know if either or both of these features could be implemented solely via a firmware upgrade. If so, I'd like to know the best way to make these requests to Rotel.

I'm not sure what you are controlling it with, but both of those functions can be done with the current setup.

Request a display update and the current volume is displayed in it's return. Calculate the volume you want to be at vs where it's at and send the appropriate number of VOL commands.

If you are on tuner on the 1055 or 1065 will have AM or FM in the output, so hit a single volume up to get a volume update and then calculate the number of VOL commands.

If you get AM, FM, or the volume, mute is off. If you get a flashing MUTE ON, it's on. Fire off the mute command if needed.

I'd like to be able simply to send a specific dB level to to the unit and have it go directly to that level.

I'd also like to be able to check for Mute status on sources other than the Tuner.

Some Mute and Volume questions about the RSX-1055
          by lhl12
          1) Is there a way to set the unit so that after pressing Mute, it will un-Mute on either a Vol + or Vol - command? From doing a search I see that the 1065's firmware has been updated to allow this. What about the 1055?

          2) Can the Mute status be queried via RS-232?

          3) Can...

What features would you like added to the SSP-800?
          by sikoniko
I'll start by saying that this thread is by my own doing, and not at the request of Classe. They do read these threads but don't expect them to participate.

Now that the SSP-800 is out, what features/ capability would you like to see added?

I think its a moot point to mention...

Does anyone know how to set up a HTPC to control the volume for of a pre-amp/receiver with RS232?

I have my Harmony remote that controls everything. HTPC to Marantz SR7002 to speakers. I have controlled my HTPC in the past with the Harmony when the OS was Windows XP. The problem is...

What features would you like on the next Rotel Preamp?
          by boe
Just curious what features you would like on the next Rotel Preamp (processor - I'll say the successor to the 1068 to clarify). I realize what I would like won't match up with everyone else but I do get some great ideas from the people on this forum.

Some things I would like to see -...

          RSP-1570 and RS232 mod?
          by Tomahawk
          Hi.
I have a Linn Sneaky DS connected to a Rotel RSP-1570 Processor/Preamplifier (the rear panel has RS-232C).

The Sneakys amplifier is disabled and I am therefor not using the Sneakys volum control, but the Rotels.
This means that using an iThouch/PlugPlayer I am not able...
