    Rotel RSX1055 8 ohm only?

The back panel of the unit indicates that speaker impedance should not be less than 8 ohms. I had high hopes of driving my KEF 104/2 speakers (nominal 4 ohms). Other Rotel units (e.g., the RB1050 power amp) drive these speakers effortlessly. I'd hate to have to consider the extra $$$ for the RSX1065 just for this reason -- the 1055 has more than enough power for the KEF's.

I was wondering the same thing and then noticed that Rotel has updated their FAQ on the 1055 to state that 4Ohm speakers are allowed:

    http://www.rotel.com/support/faqs/faqs-rsx1055.htm

For the record, I'm considering the 1055 to power Totem Arro's that drop to 4 Ohms... or possibly the Sttaf's rated at 8ohms.

I did some listening to Thiel 2.4, 1.6, and MCS1 all 4 ohms.

The 1055 did just fine, but I was not in any danger of ear damage either.

Rotel's told me that the all their receivers and amplifiers will have no problems with a 4 ohm load and I've run my mains of it which are a rather difficult load but the 1055 didn't have any problem at all with them.

RSX 1055 vs. NAD at 4 ohms

I recently bought a set of Totem speakers (Arros at the front, Mite-T at center, and Dreamcatchers for surrounds), all of which have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. I'm inclined to purchase the RSX 1055, however, I'm worried about the back panel's suggestion of an 8 ohm minimum for speakers. Does this...

Stick to RSX1065 or go to 1055/1075 separates?

I guess I'd like to hear/learn advices/experiences from those who have gone this route.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

          The reason I'm contemplating this...

A question for the experts here. You folks have previously convinced me to look at purchasing a RSX1055 over a Denon AVR4802R.

In reviewing the Rotel RSX1055, I was curious of what I would gain if anything by getting a RSP1066/RMB0175 combo over the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo. Thanks in advance...
