    rotel rsx1055 w/ magnepan mc1

My system ,so far, is :

    Magnepan MC1 ...fronts and surrounds
    Magnepan CC3....center channel
    Music Hall CD25 24/96...cd player
    Rel Srata 3 .....subwoofer

..now the thing is that I was close of buying a Rotel rsx1055 as a receiver,I went to my dealer to get it and the guy there told me that the 1055 will not have enough power (too weak to drive my Magnepans). He said that Rotel separates would be a better choice(actually the only choice around 2k).He also sugested Classe separates or Martin Logan. But I really want to stay under 1500 for the receiver and in that case I would have to go with my next best which is NAD 763.
my question is:is the 1055 really incapable of handeling my Magnepans or it was just dealer talk?
    thank you guys a lot!!!

Well unlike a lot of receivers the Rotel will actually drive those 4 ohm loads without shutting down. That said your dealer is right in that to really make those maggies sing you should be giving them more power and to get that you're really talking about adding a true power amp not another receiver.

Exactly. The 1055 will be adequate to power them but to make them sing they really should have more power. You could always buy the 1055 (or it's newer replacement) now and save up $ for an amp down the line

          Magnepan MMG-w hybrid
          by nvrgdenuf
Looking for some opinions on drivers to match the MMGw to fill the lower frequencies. I have looked at the experiments by Thomas and others, but I am thinking more of a Martin Logan type setup using the RS180 or RS225 utilizing the Behringer x-over that Thomas used. I have found most of the Logans (and...

          Magnepan "annouces" new centre channel
          by Andrew Pratt
According to the Maggie user forum Magnepan is about to release a new centre channel speaker system. There's a link http://www.magnepan.com/mc1/ht.html that isn't yet a hyperlink of their site and there's no text yet so I gather they aren't ready to release this just yet but it looks interesting. ...

Stick to RSX1065 or go to 1055/1075 separates?
          by BleakShore
I guess I'd like to hear/learn advices/experiences from those who have gone this route.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

          The reason I'm contemplating this...

          Magnepan's Conspiracy
          by mdrake
I have a thought. What is the the difference between the MMG and the MC1's? What makes the MC1 a better wall mount speaker than the MMG? Do you really think the MC1 would work that much better than a MMG hung on a wall? I am really considering sending my MMGW's back and getting the MMG's and wall mounting...
