Problem with the EXT Button Rotel Remote

    Hello All:

I use a Denon DVD-1600 player for DVD-Audio playback in conjunction with Rotel-1098 processor. The problem that I have is actually more with the Rotel remote controller.

According to the manual, pressing down and holding any of the input buttons on the top row (TAPE, CD, V1-V5, EXT) should make the processor switch the appropriate input selection as well change the device selection on the remote accordingly. However, I am not able to make this work for the EXT button.

    Here’s is my setup:
The Denon DVD player is connected to the V2 input using an optical cable.
It is also connected to the 6-channel analog input for DVD-Audio playback.
If I hold down the V2 button on the remote, the processor does change its input to V2 (which has been assigned one of the two optical inputs) and also changes the device selection on the remote. I have programmed the remote to operate the DVD player when V2 is pressed.
But, if I hold the EXT button down, it does not select the input on the processor nor it change the device selection on the remote. I noticed that it tries to switch the device selection to that corresponding to the input V1 (which the manual says is reserved for a Rotel DVD player).

Whenever I want to switch to DVD-Audio playback, I have to navigate through the menu to select that input.

I am sure I am missing something here. Has anyone seen this?
    Thanks
    Viji

Did you ever go into the multi-channel setup menu to complete the settings.I know the rsx1056 has this function.

After quickly reviewing the online manual for RSP-1098, it occurs to me that I may not have changed the VID INPUT in the setup menu and left it at the default setting which is VIDEO 1. Thanks, Rick for pointing it out. I will check later at home.

I corrected what I though was the probelm; setting VID to Video 2 in the multi-channel stup menu. However, this does not have any effect.

Could anyone please clue me in on how to make the EXT button work as expected, please?

Maybe you accidentally overwrote the EXT button while learning other commands? It should switch the multi-input when you hold it down regardless of the setup in the menu..

When you press the EXT button for 3 seconds what does the remote display? You should see EXT and then 1 second later a IR symbol on the upper right coner of the display. Does this happen? if not Kevin D might be right, you have over written the IR command code, and you may need to attempt a preload on your remote.

My understanding is the DVD has to be on Video 1 and when you press and hold the EXT button it will change the receiver to multi input and default to Video 1 input on your remote. Works on mine. I programmed over the EXT key in error and had to do a restore to factory code on the remote to get it working again.

                1066 EXT remote jacks
                by garethk
Does anyone know what type of jack to use for the EXT remote ins and outs on the back of the 1066? is it mono or stereo?

And can you connect the 1066 to other brands that have the same jack? for eg a pioneer dvd player or Harmon CD player?

                thanks :?:

Problems with external remote input Rotel RSX-1056

                Hello,

I have a Rotel RSX-1056 Surround Receiver. I have problems with the external remote input of the RSX-1056.

The problem is that the RSX-1056 don't react on the sent IR-signal via the external remote input. Controlling the RSX-1056 with the remote via the internal...

I have a question about hooking up a remote IR receiver to my RX-1052 receiver. I just want to control my RCD-1072 CD player from another room where my good speakers are located.

There is an EXT REMOTE jack on the back of the 1052. Shouldn't I just be able to hook an external IR Xantech...

Displaying Input Selection on Remote LED
                by Tom Caines
I have a RXS-1056 with it's oem RR-1050 remote. I have programmed my inputs and the 1056's LED displays my selections: DVD, DIRECTV, SAT, IPOD, PHONO.

On the remote, selecting V1 displays DVD on the remote's LED, which is correct, but I have no idea how this came to be.
                However,...

Mute button down, no version number on 1065???
                by ejfiii
Okay, this could be the most annoying thing ever (well besides my IR system not working). My second 1065 in a month and no matter how long I hold down the mute button, I get no display of the firmware version number. Both of them have done this. The remote and mute button work fine, I push it and it...
