Mute button down, no version number on 1065???

Okay, this could be the most annoying thing ever (well besides my IR system not working). My second 1065 in a month and no matter how long I hold down the mute button, I get no display of the firmware version number. Both of them have done this. The remote and mute button work fine, I push it and it mutes, but just no version number.

I took my remote (1050) into a dealer and pointed it across the store at a 1065 and it worked like a champ, version number popped right up. What about my closet could be prohibiting this from working? I tried it with the lights on and off, the plasma on and off, the other components on and off, and no version number.

As I said, the mute button works fine - I press it and the mute indicator lights up - but no matter how long I hold it, no version number.

I jsut want to know what firmware version I have. Thanks much,

    E. J.

I thought this got added to the FAQ, but maybe not. On some versions of the 1065, all you have to do is hit the Menu button and the version number is on screen at the bottom (on the TV)

Thanks Kevin, but unfortunately, that didn't do it either. Oh well, flying without radar at night.

        E. J.,

Just a thought, are you running anything utilizing RF, this could provide interference. if so disable the RF source.

Hmmmm, I do have an RF Radio Shack one for all receiver in the closet. But I am not sure that could be causing the problem. I am using the 1050 remote (not OFA) about a foot from the front of the 1065 (no ir system in use) and the mute works. Just nothing when I hold it down.

I will unplug the rf receiver tonight just to be sure.

          Thanks,

          E. J.
