    Subwoofer Test Tone on 1066

I've never really used the LFE output on my 1066 since I use Def Tech towers with built-in subs. With just the towers hooked up to L/R, the sound in movies is great and there's plenty of low frequency response. However, I thought I'd experiment and see how it performed differently if I used the optional LFE inputs on the towers.

After hooking the towers up using a T connector so both were connected to SUB 1 on the 1066, I went into the OSD and set the Subwoofer to "ON". Then I went to the Test Tones page and I couldn't get anything on Subwoofer. I tried SUB 2 instead, tried different cables, and tried using just one tower at a time... still nothing. With the sub volume on the tower maxed and the test tone maxed, I can barely make out a test tone (so something is there, just extremely quiet). Am I doing something wrong, or is the LFE output from my 1066 not working correctly?

Is there a cross over on the speakers that's set to low or something? Maybe try plugging the sub cable into the front left or right channel pre out on the receiver for now and see if you get a signal from the subs.

Good idea - I tried the sub(s) on the other channels with the same results. There's no crossover setting on the speakers themselves, and I tried varying the Sub Crossover in the 1066 OSD with no luck.

Anyone else using Def Tech towers with LFE inputs able to get a test tone? I have the 7001's.

        nash,

I have Def Tech BP 7002s and am using the LFE inputs from my Denon 3805. I get test tones with no problem. It sounds like something might be going on with the Rotel.

Hey, where's the 1066's LFE Trim setting?
          by Legairre
A lot of receivers have an LFE Trim setting that ranges from 0 to +10. For DTS your supposed to turn setting to 0 and for DD your supposed to set it at +10. Anyone know if the equivalent on the 1066 is the +/- setting in the subwoofer setup menu. I know Rotel doesn't call it LFE Trim, but does the +/-...

          What's up everyone?
I recently aquired a used M&K sub woofer. It had a bad Phase switch which was causing it to pop. The person I got it from didn't want to get it fixed and decided to get a new woofer.
I took this subwoofer home, fixed the Switch and decided to add it into my system...

          RSP1066 Test Tone
          by zeppelin
I have 1 question about the Test Tone on the centre channel.
When I use the SPL meter to calibrate my centre speaker using the internal pink noise from the 1066 at 75db, the centre is set at 0db.
But when I use the Test Tone from my DVD source pink noise like the "Video Essential"...

Sub Test Tone Level (should be) Fixed in RSP-1098 Upgrade
          by Aussie Geoff
          Hi,

It was suggested to me by one of my sources that the DSP EPROM update in the latest RSP-1098 firmware release (plus the native EPROM code in the RSP-1068 and RSX-1067) fixed the issue that many of us RSP-1098 owners had with the Sub level in the Test Tone menu being 10 dB too low
