Need beta testers for computer user interface to control: RT1080, RSP1068, RSP1066

    Hi Folks,

Seems like a pretty big following here for Rotel.

If you've always wanted to control your equipment from your computer/graphic user interface, touchscreen or tablet pc, but thought it was cost prohibitive, think again.

We've got a free plugin available and we need some beta testers to give it thorough run through.

You'll need the following to make it work:

    MainLobby:

    MLServer:

Respective plugin for your Rotel hardware:
    RT1080 (2 way support)
    http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...pic.php?t=3284

    RSP1068 (Currently 1 way support)
    http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...pic.php?t=3283

    RSP1066 (2 way support)
    http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...pic.php?t=3282

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

I'd be willing to test if you can provide interface control for the RSP-1098 .

          Azeke,

Can you post your request here?
          http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...r=asc&start=15

I imagine Dave may be able to mod the current plugins to support the 1098.

Make sure he has the latest RS232 code sheet for the 1098. The early revisions were missing a few important instructions on how to get power on/off to work correctly.

Other than that, just changing the device ID to the 1098 will work fine. It has the same feedback even though the display screens are different.

Can you provide some screenshots of this? Would be nice to get a feel for it, before installing.

I would like to see some 1098 support as well. I am currently using Girders serial plugin to control the pre. Two way commumication is important.

What would really be cool is to have the pre plugged into one pc and be able to control it with another or PPC.

                    Mcasio,

May I suggest that you add support for the RSX-1055, which is a fairly common unit (It should be fairly trivial, as the RSX-1055 is the receiver version of the RSP-1066... I like the fact that my RSX-1055 can be controlled very reliably with girder, but some people may like a more user friendly solution)

                      Hi Guys,

Like I mentioned if you want additional Rotel equip supported, you'll want to make you requests on the Cinemar forum.
                      http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...r=asc&start=15

Dave P. doesn't AFAIK own any Rotel equipment so your feedback and testing will be needed to verify it's working properly.

Also, if you already have Girder working with your equipment, we do have a Girder plugin. So you could start controlling your component today even without adding a plugin. Although the plugin will make it a little simpler.

As far as screenshots, you can really design exactly what you want. The software will come with some premade designs, but you can customize it to your hearts content.

The package comes with premade skins, backgrounds, buttons, etc. so you can get up and running quickly and without being a graphic designer.

Tune into Fox's "Renovate My Family" and you'll see it being used to control each episode's entire home.

Here are some samples though that will give you a feel for what a screen may look like:

Add in other modules to control music & movies:

Plus XM Radio, Thermostats, Lighting, Weather, TV, etc.

Viewsonic Airpanels are a great deal right now on Ebay. I picked one up for under $400. That's a 15" wireless touchscreen. Crestron recently started carrying branded Viewsonic Airpanels. I'm pretty sure they are probably 4 ti 10x the cost of the ones on eBay.

The idea of using airpanels is great, however first thing that pop into my mind is how I get it to controll all the rest of the equipment...

                        Anybody have any ideas?

                          aarsoe,

Gotcha covered with the global cache:

It will control IR devices as well as some of our supported serial devices.

Basically, you'll build macros to turn your entire system on including Rotel components with one button.

The Rotel 1066 plugin has come a long way since my last post and someone was kind enough to post their scene file which has everything one would need to get up and running very quickly.

Get the free plugin for MainLobby and MLServer here:
                            http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...pic.php?t=3282

Below is a screenshot from the scene they created and a link to the file:

Hi Mcascio, Though I find this thread rather interesting but I think I am quite ignorance of what this stuff . I definitely hope to be able take part in the beta test since I have RSP-1098, a Philips Wireless DesXcape and a beta iPronto.

Do I need to purchase MLobby and MLServer in order to be able to be able to participate in the beta test?

                                Hi Sarsi,

Basically, the software will allow you to control your Rotel components using a computer. Some are adding 15" viewsonic wireless Airpanels to their setup - which can be purchased on eBay for around $400-500. This gives you a glorified remote to operate and control not only your Rotel, but just about anything else including lighting & automation.

You can download a 30 day trial of MainLobby and MLServer.

                                1) Install MainLobby to the default location
                                http://www.cinemaronline.com/mainlobby.html (trial avialable)

                                2) Install MLServer to the default location

                                3) Download the appropriate plugin
                                http://www.caseserve.com/cinemar/php...forum.php?f=44

                                4) Follow instructions found in PDF for the plugin

                                5) If you have the 1066, you can download the sample mls another user created to get started very quickly.

As usual, if you need more assistance, let me know.

                                Happy T-Day!

So far I have gotten the text from the display screen working pretty well. You see just what you see on the actual unit but there are a few bugs.
