    RDC-7 & OSD

Does the RDC-7 output its OSD only on s-video and not on component output?

    TIA!

That's right. The RDC-7’s On Screen Display (OSD) is not available via the component out. OSD is only available via the composite or S-Video connections for “Monitor Out 1”, as stated on page 15 of the owner’s guide in the quote below (emphasis added):

When connecting two video monitors or televisions, be
aware that the OSD interface can only be used with
    MONITOR OUT 1
(OSD will not be displayed on the
video monitor connected to MONITOR OUT 2).
If you connect your main display via the component out only, or to either connection for "Monitor Out 2", you will not see the OSD. If you have it connected to both the component out and Monitor Out 1, to see OSD, you would need to toggle the display to the Monitor Out 1 connection (whichever of composite or S-Video you are using). That’s one reason I have a 14 inch TV connected via S-Video to Monitor Out 1. That way, I can use OSD to confirm or change settings while a movie is playing on the projector connected to the RDC-7 via component out. Of course, the LED front panel display shows the current menu selection (when applicable), but does not show all the choices available on a given menu at one time (that requires use of an external display connected via Monitor Out 1).

    Good luck –

Thanks Burke, that's the way I was interpreting it as well. I'm actually looking at a Samsung 17" multimedia LCD monitor with an s-video input. I'm probably a week of two away from ordering my RDC-7.

Any tricks to get C2 OSD for HDMI Sources???
        by jprafter
I'm very happy with my Parasound setup though it looks like my C2 will never support HDMI fully. I use a combination of my C2 and TV for video switching along with the MX-700 macros. So I really have no need for a Parasound HDMI switch only device, since it will do nothing to help with OSD.

        RSX 1057, setup without OSD?
        by seafoodbuffet
I just got my RSX 1057. My issue is that I only have an HDMI cable connected to the display (a ceiling-mounted projector). I know OSD doesn't work via HDMI so is there a way to access setup controls without hooking up a separate display via component/composite, etc? The projector is some 20 feet away...

HELP! - Can't get my OSD to work
        by J. Zahrt
Hello, hope some of you might be able to help me. I am attempting to set up my RSX1055. I finaly have everything hooked up, but I can't get the OSD on the remote to work.

The remote that came with the 1055 is the RR1050. All the other functions seem to work fine.

New RSX 1067 & OSD settings
        by Robo1067
Hi all, I have just purchased the above reciever and so joined the Rotel community.
I spent a bit of time today changing over recievers, my old one being a Yammy RX-V1095.
I have removed some equipment to make the set-up/transition a bit easier but am having a problem setting up.ops:...

        Rotel 1056 OSD
        by Glenn
It is my understanding the new Rotel RSX-1056 will have video upconversion. Thus, regardless of the video type going into the 1056, all signals can be sent out from the 1056 to the TV, via a single component video connection.

If the above is correct, two questions:

        1. Can...
