Waiting for my B&Ws - want to use TV built-in speakers

    Hello all,

This is a silly question but here goes. I just got my Marantz SR7001 today. I am still waiting to get my B&W speakers. (S4s or CM series TBD)

I went ahead and plugged all my HDMI enabled components into the receiver (DVD Player, Comcast cable box, and PS3)

I successfully got 1080p video pass through to my Sony KDL-46XBR3.

I have no external speakers but was wondering if I can use my TVs built-in speakers for now.

Is this possible with my current setup? I cannot seem to get the TVs speakers to work. I only get picture on the Cable box and PS3.

any help to a newbie greatly appreciated.

    D-

I just looked at the manual for that receiver and you have to set the HDMI audio to "through". With HDMI, if the receiver is asking for the audio it does not get sent on the the TV. Only the video gets passed on in that case. You have to tell the receiver to let the audio "through" to the TV and the picture is already going there now. When you get your speakers you have to change it back or you will get no sound from the HDMI connection.

Eric, This worked! Thanks for the time.

Now I can watch TV and use all my HDMI components.

HDMI Audio Ouput or Pass through from Receiver
        by bnieman
        Hello,

I am planning on upgrading to the RSX-1560 but have a question regarding HDMI output on receivers.

Is audio sent with the HDMI output on the receiver? If so is the audio the same as the source or does the receiver process the audio in any way (volume, surround processing,...
