    B&W 800 or 802

I have a room size of 16x20 and money is not a object, I want the best so please give me some direction from someone that knows and not a sales person just trying to sell me some gear.

I am using mac 207 amp and mx119 processor 861 dvd-cd player and want to go with the new diamond serious, someone suggested 800 for the front and 802 for the rear and the big boy for center for $ 40,000 in speakers am I ever going to want to leave this room ? someone else said that this was overkill that the size of the room does not merit those speakers any suggestions on which way to go would help

That may be a bit small fer' four full-range towers. Most towers like to be out from the wall a ways or they can sound bloated.

Have you listened to these speakers yet?

No I have not just the 803D and I was not impressed with those, I have 4 805s and HTM2 at my other home and liked that sound.I quess bigger is not always better?

Are these speakers better suited for a larger listening area

My priority is 2ch. I recently upgraded from N803 to 802D. My room is slightly smaller than yours. The 802D's are superb, and heaven forbid, I will not hesitate having the 800's in that room.

A friend upgraded from 802d to 800d in a smaller room than mine, it more than works.

Go 800 in front, you will not look back.

As far as rear speakers, if your seating allows for it, yes do it.

I am telling you, it is heaven!

Many 800D 5.1 setups have three MC501's for the front and a MC402 for rears.

If money is really not an object, go for The Nautilus (they look like giant snails). You'll need more amps too though.

As good an amplifier as the 207 is, it is way undermatched for the speakers you are considering.

I have 802Ds in smaller room than yours and they work fine. I even have them placed relatively close to the rear wall. This is of course a temporary setup.

I have upgraded from 802 to 800d in a room slightly bigger than yours. If money is not a problem, the choice is simple, go for 800D.
                      You will never regret

If money is really no object, consider the same speaker all around, i.e. 5 800D's or 5 802Ds, depending which you might prefer.

Granted, if money is truly no object, there are other speakers out there from other companies worth listening to...

difference from 802 to 800 are what? a little more punch with the bass or a lot actually you can acheive that with the right subs and save yourself some cash

But I like the best of the best and I would always want to upgrade if I got the 802

I will test drive both on friday and let you know where my heart is and money

I'm two channel music only. I auditioned the 802D's for quite some time. They are magnificent. I went with the 800D because to my ears the upper bass in the 802 was not quite to my liking. The 800 had an overall more robust presentation and more abundant and controlled bass. It is slightly tall which I credit to a better stage image. I can't imagine anything sounding better. Sometimes I think I have the best soundsystem in the universe. Well, ok maybe not the universe but I'd lay odds it's the best on my block. But I can tell you one thing with universal confidence, my 800D's, Mac 501's and the Mac MCD/MDA1000 source is breathtaking and you'd have to kill me to get my system from me.

I run Mac 501's and would not consider anything with less power. 500 watts at a minimum will be necessary to hear what the 800D is truly capable of. Your 200 watt Mac is not suitable. 802's in the rear might be overkill but if I was in to home theater, I'd do it in a second.

Need advice from the trusty board. Currently I have a Rotel RSX-1057 and am using as my Processor powering my MAC MC205. With a budget of $3000 I can get either the RSP-1069 or a used MX119.

I will be connecting the processor to my PS3 via HDMI for the RSP1069...

I am looking to buy a pair of 800 series speakers. I have narrowed it down to the 800d or the 802d. I have listened to them both and it is pretty clear to my ears that the 800s were superior

I have also been offered a good deal on the 800's...

Went with a group to Stereo Exchange in NYC to hear their wares. And the new 800 series were there.

Let me just say that to all the people complaining about the way the speaker looks with the silver trim, rest assured that it looks very handsome in person. I think the flash on camera's...
