    Maybe B&W

    Hi all!

I will be honest; I’m considering many speakers from different manufactures.
My room is a weird shaped (bonus room style). TV wall is 17’ wide to the room separator and another 15’ to the end, right side wall goes back roughly 30’ back to the kitchen. The ceilings are 8’ tall.
My listening habits are in the middle; I love music, but love a great action flick as well. I like music to sound on the warm side, but not too warm. Also, I already have two Def Tech Pro 100tl 10” 250w subs. My budget is roughly 1200.00 – 1400.00. I would like to keep it at 1200.00 (wife). What do you recommend?

    My components are as fallow,

    TV - Sony 36" KV-36FV27
    A/V Receiver - NAD T753 70wpc 7.1, 90wpc in stereo (true wattage)
    2 Ch Amp - Rotel RB-870BX 100wpc
    CD - Rotel 930AX
    DVD/DVDA - Panasonic DVD-A7
Pioneer DVD / SACD / DVDA

    Thanks all,

    Don
    TV - Mitsubishi 52" HDTV WD-52526
    A/V Receiver - NAD T753
    DVD - Denon HDMI 557
HD Source - Dish Network VIP622 DVR
    Speakers,
    Main - B&W DM602 S3
    CC - B&W LCR60 S3
    Rear - B&W DM600 S3
Sub - Def Tech PRO Sub 100 TL
    2 Chan Audio
    Amp - Rotel RB-870BX
    CD - Rotel930AX
    Speakers - MB Quart QLS530
Sub - Def Tech PRO Sub 100 TL

Since you currently have subs a used 805 bookshelf speaker would fit in your budget. If you want new then consider the 705 bookshelf. Both of these models will require their appropriate stands (filled with sand).

What's the going price of a used 704??

I think 704s are much better bang for the buck and would blend smoother with subs. I hate paying for 'stands'. Why not pay for extra speaker and some wood?

      Just my 2 cents...

His budget is limited. The 800 series floorstanders, smallest model (804), goes for $2400 used. The 805s ($1200 used) would mate well with his subs.

              Speakers on Subs?
              by Tim Taylor
First post to what looks like good forums.

I have a pair of velodyne subs and a pair of large bookshelf size speakers. If I set the speakers directly on the subs they are too low but I am not sure what a set of stands on top of the sub will look like.

              I was curious if anyone...

              B&W dipole vs. bookshelf as surrounds [DS3 vs 685, DS7 vs 705. DS8 vs 805]
              by videophile
Please help me decide on which surround speakers to get: DS3 or 685? I have B&W 683, HTM61, Velodyne CHT-12R, Rotel RSP-1066 and Rotel RMB-1075. [I'm sure the question can apply to DS7 vs. 705 and DS8 vs. 805]

I know that dipole speakers produce more diffused sound as compared to...

Bypass on 1068 suited to Bookshelf speakers ?
              by bleeding ears
When using the rsp 1068 processor in bypass mode (on remote not thru multi bypass on back panel) I believe the speakers are sent a full range signal.

Is this mode ok to use with bookshelf speakers?

If I was to use bypass mode with a bookshelf speaker rated at say 55 hz,...

Best bookshelf speakers for $150 or less?
              by hans030390
I figured I could get the most for my money if I did a DIY project, so I posted here. I think the title is pretty clear...I'm looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers to buy or build (used/new, whatever) for $150 OR LESS (which I want to include everything).

The reason I set my budget...

              805D on a Bookshelf
              by Chucka
While I see most saying they run or will run their 8o5D (or S) on stands, how do they work on an actual bookshelf? What are the drawbacks? Does anyone here run 805's on a bookshelf?
