    Centre Channel for Matrix 802S3

I've the old model of B&W Matrix802S3 with a pair of Odyssey monoblocks to drive. Now I'm looking for a front centre channel for the HT enjoyment. Which one of the following centre channel speaker is the best match to my old speakers:

    1) HTM7
    2) old version HTM1 (similar to current HTM4S)
    3) HTM4S

    Thx

I have the HTM 1 with the Matrix 801, S2: sounds great.

But I haven't compared the center to other ones in this setting.

        Hi JurgenW,

In your case, your HTM1 has 1 high, 1 mid, and 2 bass. Do you think the Nautilus HTM2 is too small (because it has only 1 high, and 1 bass/mid) to match with the Matrix 802?

The MATRIX HTM should be your best/only choice if sonic matching is concerned.

            @naive,

Accidentely I saw this thread again, today.
Sorry I didn't answer your question, hadn't seen it before.

I assume you got a center speaker meanwhile.
The problem often mentionend with the center for the Matrix is that the tweeter of the Matrix-speakers (and the midrange-speaker) is so different from the Nautilus.
Anyway also I listen quite a lot to (classic) music dvd's I can't detect a mismatch. Sounds very very nice to me.

I am going to purchase a pair of these to replace the 603s3's in my existing configuration. They will be driven by a pair of Odyssey Extreme monoblocks. Surrounds are currently 600s3, center is lcr600, sub is asw600. Surrounds/Center driven by Odyssey HT3 (cap upgrade). I am moving to the 802's...

This is from the B&W thread regarding choosing the HTM3S and HTM4S for HT purpose. I am starting this over here in case there are other HT experts who uses either of these centre speakers who can advise and in case the Moderator thinks I have broken the rules in the B&W thread.

              Center Channel Conspiracy?
              by RebelMan
Something that has been on my mind for quite some time is what I like to call the Center Channel Conspiracy Theory. Many of us already know the "theoretical" importance of timbre' matching speakers, especially across the front stage. But what is the real (practical) importance of speaker...

I'm considering changing my current centre channel (HTM4S) due to height restrictions. Which route do you guys think would result in the smallest sonic deviation from the rest of my system (805S and the SCMS):
              - CM centre 2 / CM centre 1
              - FPM series (FPM4 / FPM5 / FPM6)
              - XTC...
