Ok boys and girls, it's time to go to the movies, and view and (sort of) hear a good example of what basic room treatments can do (with the sound of two hands clapping).
This is one of my pet issues, even though I realize that for many folks, it's not possible for various logistics and...

Room Treatments for Maggies
Hey everybody, long time no post!!!
So I'm coming up on a lot of free time soon, and want to build some room treatments. They can be as big or ungainly as I necessary, since the reason for the free time is a divorce. Yuck.
I have a roll of pink fiberglass on hand. Lowe's...

External DACs (and room acoustics)
Does anyone have experience with external DACs? My current system is great but I still find it to be edgy or bright sometimes. I’ve been reading a lot of reviews on DACs lately and I was wondering if that should be my next upgrade? A lot of the reviews of DACs seem to address jitter and use phrases...Last edited by mb225; 01 October 2010, 11:31 Friday.

DIY room treatment that won't make my wife throw me out of the house?
Hi all!
A month ago or so, my mother in law gave us a pretty nice gift - new sofas for our living room. They are very nice, and I'm very thankful for them (you can see where this is going...)
Unfortunately, from an audio perspective, they are all all-leather / leatherette....

Example of the Effects of Room Placement & Baffle Step
I'm making my way through Floyd Toole's book, "Sound Reproduction". So far, it has me some what shaking my head in disagreement, but that is another thread (and whom am I to argue with Floyd Toole?). One thing I just came across that I thought would be very helpful, because it comes up all...

DIY Room Treatment / Acoustic Panels - Any Ideas?
As above please. I live in a rented flat so can't go crazy and install a full on room treatment system :P so I had some ideas after seeing some other peoples set ups on here. Basically I thought of creating some 'acoustic panels' which are essentially rectangular pieces of wood with an acousitc...

Softwall Systems (whole room treatment)
I am having my Basement water-proofed next month and have been looking around for room treatments. My girlfriend sent me a link to a company called Softwall.
They make (and in stall if wanted) foam wall panels that are covered with fabric. They are "85% sound absorbing". Anyway...

Room treatment for Dipole
I just put three Hawthorne coaxial dipole OB's into my theater. I have 2 2" OC 703 2 X 4 panels (ATS Acoustics Panels) on each side wall, three along the back wall, and have three left to put on the ceiling. My room is 12' X 20'. I will also be stacking cut triangles of rock wool in the front...

Opinions Please
I would appreciate your weighing in on my system. I am considering an upgrade to the Musical Fidelity A5. All my gear is mid 90's stuff, but I believe very good entry level equipment. Will appreciate suggestions for "next steps." I also am unsure how my current system "stacks up."...
