    Directionality of video switching

I am getting a PJ soon, and have a single component source (DVD) and will at that point have 2 destinations for component (TV, PJ). My pre/pro (outlaw 950) has 2 component inputs and only 1 output.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering if there was anything in the switching circuitry that was direction dependent? Or could I hook up my DVD player to the output on the pre, and hook my PJ and TV to the inputs, and use selection of those "sources" to switch the ouput between displays?

I am guessing this will NOT work, that it would at the least degrade the signal somehow, and at worst, back feed some circuit elements (like diodes) in some way that might be harmful.

Then again, isn't a video signal sort of AC in nature so why would it?

    Wiser minds please comment.

Feeding a receiver's or pre-pro's video switch backwards would not work, as the signal is buffered (basically passing through a pre-amp of sorts). Now if you use a mechanical signal switcher (like the ones you get at Radio Shack) that should work just fine, since they're just switches, no buffering or amplification is taking place.

So in short, if switching mechanically, it'll work, if electronically, it won't.

Routing video signal (component) via RSX-1067
      by Jamil
      Folks,

I recently acquired a Rotel RSX-1067 receiver and hooked up my DVD player and ERA design satellite speakers with it. The sound is awesome but I am wondering if most of the owners of this receiver route their video signal (especially component) through it as well. Basically, was...

I just got a Sharp 42D64U HDTV and connected it using Component Video. Component cable from the cable box to the Rotel and another compontent cable...

      1098 video and TFT problems
      by Quantronics
I have a 1098 that's about 5 years old. I upgraded the firmware to 2.2.3 last year and have been using the sleep mode for the screen. Well the screen doesn't work anymore and I can't get it to turn on. I've tried to unplug it and turn the power off for sometime. Would it be worth it to flash the...

      Proxima 5800 Video Drops Out
      by mhutchins
I have an old Proxima 5800 that has been great for the occasional presentation around town. I've decided to use it with my playstation 2 and I'm having mixed results. I've connected the Playstation to a VCR and connect to the 5800 via a Video component cable (the yellow one). At first the games run...
