    1098 video and TFT problems

I have a 1098 that's about 5 years old. I upgraded the firmware to 2.2.3 last year and have been using the sleep mode for the screen. Well the screen doesn't work anymore and I can't get it to turn on. I've tried to unplug it and turn the power off for sometime. Would it be worth it to flash the firmware again. Maybe downgrade to a lesser version and then back to 2.2.3?

Also, when I first turn on my TV, I get these really weird lines racing back and forth. I have the 1098 switching all my video w/ a component video out back to my TV. After about 2 minutes everything is normal.

Could it be related? Is my video board on my processor going bad?

Any help would be well appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Erich

Won't help flashing the firmware again. The TFT might have gone out. There's a way of forcing the TFT back on, but I think that's only for when you have it set to always off. If someone can remember what it was, you might be able to try it.

As far as the flashing lines, do you have the PROGRESSIVE settings set to yes for all inputs that use 480p and higher?

Thanks Kevin, that would be great if anyone knows how to kick start the TFT back on. Let me know when you can....

      Thanks,

Kicking the 1098 lcd back on

hold down the menu button for about 10 seconds then press enter. The lcd should come back on. Thanks. Let me know if it worked.

I tried that nothing happened. It seems that holding down the menu button put the LCD into sleep mode. I tried to do it before it goes into sleep mode and hit enter. Maybe, I'm missing something here.

          Thanks again for the help.

            RSP1098 TFT display activation.
            by >>Angel<<
            Hi,

I recently bought the RSP1098 (next to the RMB1075) in combination with the RDV1060, what a nice combination this is . However I do have some issues/questions:

            - How can I enable color on the TFT display when DVD video is passed (via composite video) to the 1098?...

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
            by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....

            1098 Video Setup Questions
            by skipm
Since this is the first receiver/processor that I've owned with more than 2 component video inputs I wanted to check with the other 1098 owners in the group to make sure I was reading the setup information correctly. You can connect 5 video sources, labeled Video 1 thru 5. You have 4 component video...
