I've been using my good ol' avia disc to do my calibration for years now, but I was thinking about stepping into the Hi-Def discs. It seems that AVIA doesn't have a blu-ray disc so I was looking into to getting the 'Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition' or the DVE: HD Basics. Has anybody used either of these with success(or not success)....
Anybody make the jump to a new bluray calibriation disc?

I used my old DVE disc as well..seems to work pretty well. Got the S&M disc free with my Oppo player, but never got around to using it. Now I'm thinking of upgrading my tv, so I probably won't until I get it installed.Brad- Bottom

I've had Joe Kane's Digital Video Essentials DVD calibration disc for years. One of the first blu-rays I ordered was his Blu-Ray Basics disc. I highly recommend that anyone using a blu-ray player buy this or a similar disc..

by Kevin PMy trusty AVIA disc I've counted on for years has apparently grown legs and left the building. Which got me thinking, there must be something newer and better out there now, right?
I did some googling, and I found mention of AVIA II, but it appears to be discontinued, and a supposed...-

by Chris DFor those who don't know, new editions of Avia and Digital Essentials are about to be released for new technologies since the original editions. Both videos are useful reference items to use in learning about, setting up, and fully calibrating your system in both audio and video. I own both original...-

by maseline_98I just replaced the lamp in my kds-60a2000 and decided to go through some calibration for it. I pulled out the out old AVIA disc and popped it in my blu-ray player. I noticed that the the white level test pattern does not work. There are 2 moving bars at the bottom of the screen used to designate 'Threshold',... -
Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the studio that currently owns Gone with the Wind has released it on BluRay in a multiple-disc special collector's edition that includes a ton of extras (well, at least a couple of pounds of extras, some printed, others on the addtional discs) in the oversized box,...-

by Joe FaganTried to play my first BluRay disc tonight and am having problems. The BluRay disc is the current Star Trek movie. The Oppo BD BluRay displays True DD. The 1570 displays Dolby HD Dmix 48k with subscript showing only the FL FR and SW playing. When I turn 1570 off and then on again that first display...-
