    Shakers Anyone?

    Hey guys,

My company for the last two years had the most incredible trade show booth with a 15' tall 360 degree HD screen and in the raised floor we had low frequency 'shakers' that were incredible. Lets just say they got the point across with a low grumple of an engine or an big bomb explosion.

Have you guys used them attached to your theater seats or underneath the platforms for your raised seating?

Just always thought it would be fun to add a little bit of 10hz to the movie experience!

I haven't personally, but we have people here on this forum that own some shakers. I may have to try them one day, but if you own a good enough sub, you can at least experience some vibration feedback from low frequencies. I'm sure others will chime in here.

    Peace and blessings,

    Azeke

About ten years ago I put my old 12" passive primus sub right next to my couch. It made my couch shake and I liked the sensation. When I get to it I want some real shakers for my new set up. Cheers
My only concern is will attaching these things to the couch eventually harm the couch itself?

Yes, (sigh) I keep meaning to write a BIG writeup here about tactile transducer and shaker usage. I just never get around to it. Sorry! (bad Chris...) I use Clark Synthesis TST's, and am very happy. Do a search for that here for more info posted by me.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

          I took the plunge -

I can't say enough for them - if you are even thinking about shakers then you need to stop thinking and start shaking!

I bought 2 of the 'Aura' Bass shaker pro's for $80 for both.
          Screwed them into my couch.
hooked them up to a spare amp I had lying around and fed the LFE channel to them -
          in a word Awesome -
Guys, were talking an $80 investment here - less than most people spend on CABLES!
A great effect when you're watching movies, playing videogames etc...
Also a great supplement to 'midnight' watching - if you want to 'feel' the bass, without cranking your system - shakers are great.

I later ended up purchasing a sub amp with a remote so I could turn up/down the amount of shake. So I think I'm in for $300 in total.

I'm sure there are better products out there, but the Aura's get the job done VERY nicely for the money - if you are not sure about this, and you have a spare amp you can use, then spend the money and get the Auras - you can always trade them on ebay later if you decide to move up or out.

I've got a Clarke module in my couch. It's on a separate amp from my sub so when house shaking isn't permissible (people asleep) you can still get some LFE in your booty.

I agree with basementjack. The best $80 I ever spent on my HT!
Not sure if you would gain much (relative to investment) going to the more pricey units but if you want to try it on the cheap, the Aura Pro Bass Shakers are the way to go - a 50-100w amp will suffice too.
You have to watch Blackhawk Down with these things. Between the sound and the shaking, you are ducking your head as they switch scenes form inside to outside the helicopters.
              Very cool!
When I had my family over for Christmas last year, my nieces and nephews were going absolutely nuts watching Polar Express.
I am now the coolest uncle;-)

PE has a new tactile transducer called an I beam. Just $350 yikes.
