Yes, the RC-1090 has recently been discontinued. If you look around you may still find a dealer that has one. -

I have the RC-1070 mathced with the RB-1070, I am happy with the couple. At the time I purchased I could not justify the $500 difference between the 1070 & 1090 preamps. There are some excellent reviews of the 1070 combo on the interent by various mags/writers. Not one I have read have given negative reviews.Comment

I dont post much here, but just want to say I am very very pleased with the Rotel outfit 1080/1090 amp and preamp. And especially now if any one is looking for a very nice two channel system on the cheap this is one of the better ways to go. You may find both at Audiogon if you watch daily.

A friend has £3000 +/- £200 to spend on a kick ass 2 channel set-up, and since she doesn't known anything about hifi, she has put me incharge of building the system for her. I lept at this oppurtunity to put together a few scenarios that I think represent the best possible sound... -
I presently have the RC1070 and like it very much. Have the chance to get the discontinued RC1090 at good price. Will I see an appreciable sonic improvement in that upgrsde? Or, would you wait for the upcoming RC1082 and would anyone know at this point if the upgrade will mean better sound? I hear... -
