    Help a rookie?????

Sorry but this is the first thread I have ever typed anywhere, I'm hoping that someone out here can help me with a question. I was not sure if this was more of a home theater question but I thought that the people in this forum would be the experts on this one...I have recently purchased a Rotel 1560, my first venture into Rotel and am wondering when I upgrade my Bluray if I should go with the Oppo 83 or the Oppo 83 SE? The salesperson that sold me the Rotel is a little too much of an enthusiast to get the answer to this question but I'm not sure if I should buy the normal 83 and connect via 1.3a or purchase the 83SE and connect via analog cables? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only difference between the 83 and the 83SE are the audio DACs. If your Rotel decodes all the lossless audio formats, just get the 83 and use the HDMI. The 83SE is more for those who can only use the analog audio outs because their receiver doesn't support HDMI audio.

P.S. I just looked up the RSX-1560, that looks like a really nice receiver. :T Get the '83 and use HDMI, you should be happy with the sound.

I ran into many of the hdmi issues most people face. My laptop has HDMI output, with no seperate SPDIF output port. Initially I thought I would just run the HDMI --> TV, then TOSlink to my amp. Little did I know most TV's downmixes digital signal to 2 channel.

I am happy to say that...

I just purchased the Oppo 95 AND upgraded from the SSP 600 to the 800. I am in the process of setting them up. I am having difficulty understanding the best approach of what I think are two options to connect them for the BEST HDMI audio/video delivery and thus I am having trouble getting the sound/picture...

Help with HDMI audio problem please
            by bigburner
A friend has asked me to help him with an audio problem that is outside my area of expertise.

My friend has recently upgraded his plasma to a 1080p Samsung. Immediately he started experiencing audio problems when playing DVDs on his OPPO 981. The problems are skipping and volume fade....

Oppo BDP-83 with Rotel 1069 issue
            by chanlon
I'm getting no sound from the Oppo connected to a Rotel 1069 via HDMI.
The picture is fine. However, I get no audio. I have LPCM selected in the setup menu for HDMI Audio options. The Secondary Audio is turned off. The output resolution is set at 1080p (Pioneer 141FD). The Primary Output is selected...

How I've added HDMI 1.3 high bitrate audio decoding to my Parasound C1
            by Chris D
Quite a thread title, I guess. Perhaps I should subtitle it, "or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean, theater."

As the title says, I've added HDMI 1.3 audio decoding to my home theater, centered around the Parasound C1 home theater controller. As...
