new use for oppo

ive noticed that my oppo has a volume control
hence eliminating the need for my preamp since it has little use other than a volume control in my aplication

i am noticing a high noise floor with the oppo so this wont be my universal player but a more sq oriented universal player w/ the same volume control is probably preferable to having a preamp in a case like mine it would seem

have noticed that the volume doesnt have fine enough increments for my taste and output voltage may be a little low for my amp-
but im still like the idea of eliminating a preamp from the signal chain

I noticed the same high noise floor with my cheap Sigmatek XM-400. It also features volume control.

My Cambridge Audio 540D also has a volume control, though I've not tried it directly with an amp. I've thought about making a minimalist 2 channel setup (I bought it primarily for its audio qualities) with it in the future, but that won't be for some time (if ever).
