Thanks Beer! I'm dying to get the garage in order so i can get back to work. Been in the middle of moving and organizing storage in the back of the garage. Once that is settled this weekend, it's on!

I'm getting itchy the more I work on these! Crossovers are not even purchased yet. Is there something I should look out for?

          Top brace/mid enclosure glued.

Not really. It is just a lot more time than you would think, especially the first time. Set aside a 4 to 6 hours to wire them up them. You just have to go slow and double check your work. Stare at my photos and the crossover diagram, also stare at JonMarsh's ModulaMT photos, until you understand how the diagram works. If you do this, then you should be good.

And, make sure you double check and listen prior to soldering. My speakers weren't soldered for months (even went to DIY Iowa). Triple check that you have the woofers wired with the polarity reversed and the mids in series.

Thanks Ryan! I'm pretty good at following diagrams and schematics so hopefully it all goes smoothly. :T Thankfully no issues on my other builds, but none of them were anywhere near as complicated as this one.

When you say polarity reversed on the woofers, you mean input + from x-over to woofer negative and vice versa?

Yeah. It is shown on the diagrams, but easy to miss and will leave you wondering why the bass just isn't there at times. ops:

                  Thanks for the clarification!

Both towers have one side on the interwoven bracing. Tomorrow I will get the tops and bottoms on, and maybe the lowest brace. I may be stuck there until I get the wiring in.

                  Pics coming.

Sides are on. Hopefully by the end of next week they are completely built and awaiting crossover parts. Going to start putting in the 703 this week.

Thanks CJD! They better be after all this work. :x :W

My MarkK's are pretty dead. When I rap on them in the different quadrants on each panel there is slight tonal change, but no lasting reverb, and that is without drivers in the cab's. I'm sure once loaded I won't hear anything. :T

Excited to finally get to a place where things are getting completed. Can't wait for the wire to come in so I can get the cab's all done!

Can somebody inform me if I can use a .39mh 15 Awg in place of the .39mh 14Awg in the woofer section? I'd like to order everything from PE instead of all over the place if I can.....

Joey, these are looking amazing. Excellent work on the bracing, and the documentation process with lots of pics so far. I think your Daytons are definitley getting intimidated seeing them in the room.

Thanks Owen! I'm a pic whore. Can't help it. Love to document and see, and I know for others that may want to see how things went together, one pic may not get it done.

Oh yes. They are definitely intimidated. I am SO eager to get these done and running. I'm still holding out on buying the wire and crossover parts as both of my vehicles decided they need new batteries last week, and the fiance's needs a new starter. :M

Wire and binding posts should be here by the end of next week. That means wire and binding posts and insulation and the rest of the cabinets will be under way next weekend! WOOT!

I think I may have gone a little overkill on the wire though..... :??

Hoping to have these glued up and wired by the end of the weekend as well!

Someone please let me know what they think of the amount of 703 in here. Thanks!

That looks like a lot of 703.

It could be too much in the mids. I know that I experimented adding accustastuff in my mid and found any added caused them to be a just slightly bright and harsh. With the mid being so oversize, I'm not sure why this was, but that is what I heard.

I worry also about the piece right behind the top woofer. I understand what you're trying to do. But air isn't going to move as quickly through the 703. You might have just made a very small chamber with a aperiodic vent.

I'm all for experimenting and overkill. But, if you're going to deviate from the original design, please only do it in areas where you can reach in and pull it out and put it back to the original.

And that's why I asked, I wasn't sure what was too much. I know Pete on PE said that if I could suspend the 703 off a wall it would improve it's abilities. Maybe too much with 2" thick.

So you think I should just line the back walls with the 2" and that's it? I can always push that piece off the bracing and toward the back, not a big deal. The lower woofer has a large opening directly underneath it through that bracing so I think that will be good.

And I'll cut down the walls in the mid chamber to be only 1" thick.

And last, do you think I should push that suspended piece at the bottom all the way down?

Pete might be right. I haven't done enough experimenting to know when it is too much. When Pete said suspend, I picture a piece hanging with a gap around it. Maybe ask Pete directly.

Taking the conservative route, if it were me, I would build it as close to mine, which would mean 2" on the back wall and 1" on all other surfaces. Get those up and running. Then experiment with suspending the 703 in the middle of the woofer top and bottom. Those are big woofer holes, so you can add an subtract quite a bit through.

I just don't want you doing anything that you can't undo. Once it is all glued together, there are going to be a lot of spaces you can't get to. You're not doing a removable baffle or rear right?

                                                    Maybe I worry too much?

Yeah, I'll do what you said, might just add a little around the perimeter of the front of the bracing in the corners.

I try to plan ahead as much as possible, so no......you don't worry too much. :T

These will get done as fast as the glue can dry.

Yup. Oops. Going too quickly I forgot to add an inch to the measurement of where the brace position. Going to have to cut a piece to fill in there and fix that up. I think this is my first big mistake on this entire HT build. I'll take it.

Cleaned up the 703 opening behind the top woofer for a bit easier air flow through to the bottom chamber.

Why are you building the RS 3 way center? Isn't there a Khancenter?

There is but I figured I would go with the larger option that matches just as well with the Khan's. I should never need anything else after these builds unless I go more efficient with something like pro gear. Can't wait to get all these up and running on my XPA-3. Hoping to score a UPA-2 sometime soon for my surrounds.....

There is. But, CJD also did a crossover for the drivers in the bigger rs 3-way. Calling it the rs 3-way isn't probably correct, ... but don't he any thing better.

I'm going to be trying it in my Ranger over the 16Ov.2 that is in there now. See which I like better. If it doesn't get used in there, then it will go in the family car that I buy at the end of 2012/beginning of 2013.

Instead of steps, I think I have been crawling on these babies. : Crossover parts for them should be here right after the new year so all I will have left is the finish. I'll have the cabinets all ready for finishing this weekend. That is really exciting to write. Too bad that brings the most difficult decision of this whole process. :x

This has been a lot of fun but a lot of time as well. Fortunately a house is in the near future and the wife is completely on board with me having a man room/ HT theater. :T
