I have been lurking around on this site for a few months now and it is a great forum. I'm in the process of building the In-Khan-Neatos and I would like to build the Khanspires, I would still need a center channel but the Khancenter looks a little small as a cc compared to the mains. so I'm looking for suggestions for a bigger center that will match the Khanspires. thank you.

Welcome aboard. Dr Zoidberg avatar, nice.
As for the center I haven't heard any complaints on the Kahn Center. If you check the diy design guide there are quite a few center channel speakers listed, a lot of which use Dayton Reference drivers and would probably get along just fine with the KahnSpires. Also you might go to zaphaudio.com and check out the ZDT3.5 center as it is reviewed very well.- Bottom

Next step up would be the Dayton WT/MW center with the RS225 woofers instead of the RS180s. CJD devised a crossover for it that should match very well - placement dependent of course.
I'm going to continue to be a contrarion about center channels. In the movies I experimented with, most of the vocals came from the center channel, but much of the music and effects came from the mains. So, imho (and often wrong), I don't think the center channel needs to be bigger than the two being discussed.
I think the Khancenter if you're placing it under/over a tv would be excellent, and if your placing it away from boundaries the WT/MW w/ CJD crossover would work really well (look at the really really long thread in Mission Accomplished).- Bottom

I actually run a 50hz crossover with mine. That probably isn't optimal, but it is all my current receiver offers. I think 70 - 80hz would be better. But, my ears haven't made me rush out and buy a new prepro yet.
CJD would be better to ask. Probably should have put Khanspire in the title to catch his attention.

Neither. You should build a third Khanspire and place it vertically.
You should be able to fiddle with the height a little (though floor bounce will change of course)...
That said, it would depend if it's a table or a cabinet - cabinet, I'd do Khancenter since you'll have the adjacent reflective surface(s) it is designed for. Table-ish? You probably want a little more BSC.
The non in-wall version of the In-Khan (what did those get called? I don't ever remember) might also work perfectly (vertical).diVine Sound - my DIY speaker designs at diVine Audio- Bottom

by dpc repI have been quietly lurking and reading here on and off for a few years, but post rarely. My initial plan was to build the Statements along with the accompanying center and surrounds, but due to placement issues in my particular room, I do not think that this will be possible. I am looking now more...-

by csuzorI have finally sold my HTM7. I found myself listening to its boxiness, its inability to reproduce the clarity of the 703, instead of just enjoying a movie or the music. It had to go.
Now, without a center speaker, watching a movie is terrible. The sound is very inaccurate, the phantom...-

by jagmanMy wife and I put an offer on a house and we'll get the answer early this week. If we get the house, I won't be able to go with my previous plan for speakers (the full size Statement towers). Required speaker location makes sealed front speakers a must... and I really like the RS225 woofers.

by mackintirea couple of questions?
What are the sonic differences and capabilities between the Dayton RS WMTW's and the Khancenters?
Any possibility we 'll see a WMTMW version in the future? :W
The only center I 've seen of that sort is Jeds 4Cs but I imagine those won't match...-
