Ok,
I am going to start the build on my Sub next week and have acquired most of the materials to start. I would like to thank everyone who helped me with my decision process on this stuff.
Driver = Dayton 15" MKIII Titanic
Amp = Bash 500w Plate Amp
FBD = Behringer DSP1124p
Tube = 20" sonotube
End caps = 2 1/4 total thickness each
Ports = 1ea 6" tube 2'10" long
Total length of tube = 4' 9"
Effective volume = 8.69 cu ft
Tuning freq = 15 Hz
Fill = good ole fiberglass insulation attached with spray contact cement.
finish = endcaps will be gloss metalic black and the tube is going to be grey speaker carpet...
Total Cost comes in around $650
Once the parts come in i will put together a photo of all of it and a BOM. I am also going to try to document this build fairly well so maybe i can help out the next DIY'r like you guys have helped me...
Here are pics of the raw materials and the beginning of the clamping. i also adding pics to a new reply due to space constraints.
NEW UPDATE: 7/25/09
I have completed the SUB and have added two completed pics to the three that were on this post. I would really like to thank everyone who has helped me with this endeavor and a special thanks to Thomas ;x( for answering all my noob questions.
The sub sounds awesome :T and i am still tweaking it a little and i think it still needs some break in time. i pushed it a little hard right after getting it up and running and it hit its limit on the LF on the movie "war of the worlds" when the tripod comes out of the ground. i havent put the FBD in line on it yet so i should be able to get it even sounding better shortly. the thing really puts alot of low low freq's out. once i get the FBD inline and figure out how to use REW to check my room i should have all the LFE i will ever need.
things i did wrong on this build:
1. i didnt allow for the thickness of the carpet in the demensions of the baffles so they are not flush with the carpet. its not the prettiest but i can live with it.
2. on the box i built to mount the plate amp i didnt take into account that the corner screws for the amp would fall on the joint of the MDF so i am unable to put screws in those holes even after pre drilling. it shouldnt affect anything though.
3. tolerances on holes - i tried to keep some of the tolerances to tight and had to really work at getting the baffles seated in the tube and the driver hole in the baffle had to be messaged to allow me to put the driver in easier.
