Very nice - and the cigar box adds character.

Very nice. The cartridge looks like it's made out of a block of wood.

                Here's my Well Tempered rebuild

Here's my Well Tempered Simplex rebuild. We've renamed it the WT "Complex."

Bought it as just a plinth with motor and bearing off eBay, adapted WTRP bearing, spindle and platter purchased off eBay to it by building a lower base. Moved the squash ball feet to the lower base, bought an AC adapter, built the arm and arm suspension, counterweight, arm rest and designed 3 parts that a friend printed 3D for me. Originally tried to adapt the 5-pin DIN plug to the plinth that WT Lab uses, ID'd by another Simplex owner, and tracked it down in China ($40 for a $10 plug...) but it was a slightly different part than used on this particular Simplex plinth, so I wired directly to the PIB box. Took some time but sounds very good.

Here is a link to a controller that works well.
It is designed by the the original designer of the Falcon and Roadrunner.
Not to difficult to build and works very well.

                      Turntable build
                      by flamethrower1
So in my quest of audio nirvana from from a record lathe, I came up with this design.
I have only run it with my test cartridge which is an Ortofon Blue and it sounds very nice.
Have yet to build the motor housing and controller for the BLDC motor, it sounded great even with the VPI motor....

                      Anyone ever build a turntable?
                      by Kevin_McC
Just curious if anyone here has ever built a turntable? What kind of advice would you give someone that was considering the idea? I've sort of look around and I'm guessing I'd have to buy a decent arm and motor (type?), but I would think everything else could be built using common wood working tools?...

                      Turntable Upgrade Recommendations
                      by collectslps
                      Hi.

I have a Rega P3 2000 table. Is it worthwhile for me to consider the 24v motor and/or Groovetracer subplatter upgrades? I like the turntable a lot but have to wonder if the money might be better spent moving up to a different one. With the gear I have, wondering what you might...
