    Turntable Upgrade Recommendations

    Hi.

I have a Rega P3 2000 table. Is it worthwhile for me to consider the 24v motor and/or Groovetracer subplatter upgrades? I like the turntable a lot but have to wonder if the money might be better spent moving up to a different one. With the gear I have, wondering what you might suggest. Thanks!

I have never seen a bad report about the Groovetracer sub platter. I have one on my Planar 3.

I have also added a Origin Live motor upgrade. My Incognito rewire kit should be here next week and I will be interested in that change.

Thank you for your input. I just wonder if spending $600 or so in upgrades is worth doing vs going for a used vpi scout.

Unfortunately that is a question I cannot answer for you. I did my upgrades a little bit after getting the Planar 3. I still love the little deck and have not thought about selling it to go to another one as of yet.

            Nothing Like "Routine" Maintenance

Moral of the story is I decided to change my P3 2000's oil which was original. Believe it or not, made a huge positive difference in many respects.

Other equipment includes Dynavector 10x5, Genesis Technologies Genre I speakers, double runs of Kimber 4TC. Also have but barely use a Grado RA1 AC and SR225's (with Audioquest Emerald interconnects) only because I prefer speakers over phones.

                Turntable build
                by flamethrower1
So in my quest of audio nirvana from from a record lathe, I came up with this design.
I have only run it with my test cartridge which is an Ortofon Blue and it sounds very nice.
Have yet to build the motor housing and controller for the BLDC motor, it sounded great even with the VPI motor....

Last year I got back into vinyl, but before buying a nice TT I figured I'd get a cheaper used one to try first to see if I would really still enjoy LP's.

Well as it turns out I listen almost exclusively to LP's, so I want to get a better turntable. I have three older TT's that I've been...

                Turntable pre-amps?
                by paul2102
Is there any way I can get my turntable (you know, the gadget that plays those old vinyl LPs) to work with the modern surrond processors such as the Rotel 1066? I have tried going through several inputs with no luck, and I understand I need a pre-amp.

Anyone else have any success using...

My turntable is a dust magnet!
                by Kevin P
While spinning some vinyl, I became painfully aware of how much dust had collected on my Denon DP-300F turntable... not just on the dust cover either... the plinth was coated in dust as well, even though it spends nearly all its time with the cover closed. I've kept the platter and the cork mat clean,...
