Sanyo Z2 LCD panel alignment problem

    Dear All,

    I have a 6month old PLV-Z2 projecting about 2m to a 6ft screen.
Recently I have begun to see a red halo, about 1-2 pixels wide above OSD menus and also from a component signal from a DVD. This is accompanied by
    a similar blue effect below.

Not sure what the technical term for this is, perhaps RGB convergence?

I believe this is probably due to the alignment of the 3 LCD panels within the unit. My questions is:
    1. can this be corrected thru one of the 500 options in the service menu
    2. does it mean a back to base for a service engineer fix.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Check your cabling first - I had a similar sounding problem that was "fixed" by pushing the component cables on tight - one had likely come loose during some re-cabling I did.

      Thanks Paul,

I will check the component cables.

The reason I think its a deeper issue is that the problem appears on the OSD generated by the Z2 itself as well as the component sourced picture. However the OSD is overlayed onto the component sourced picture so it could be it

      Cheers

#2 it is. You are correct, this is almost certainly panel misalignment. The optical blocks in newer Sanyo's (last 2 years) are fixed by adhesive, not fasteners, and so are not adjustable for alignment once out of the factory. So no service menu item will address this.

Usually anything under 1 pixel is considered within tolerance, but sounds like yours is far enough out to make them repair it under warranty. Contact the vendor you purchased from and see if they will exchange it or if you have to wait for it be repaired.

Thanks for the replies. I am now in contact with the vendor for a warranty repair or replacement. If anyone is interested I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

          Cheers

Whoa!! Definite panel alignment problem! And we thought only CRT projectors could have these kinds of problems! at least in that case, they're user adjustable. They should fix this under warranty. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Any tricks to get C2 OSD for HDMI Sources???
              by jprafter
I'm very happy with my Parasound setup though it looks like my C2 will never support HDMI fully. I use a combination of my C2 and TV for video switching along with the MX-700 macros. So I really have no need for a Parasound HDMI switch only device, since it will do nothing to help with OSD.

I am running component video to my projector (Dish Network and Xbox) and a HDMI cable from the OPPO BDP-83 to the projector. I have an S-video cable routed in the wall between the RSP-1066 and the projector but have never used it.

I just figured out that you can not use the OSD via component out if your using a 1080i or progressive source. I have an HD Tivo (1080i), the Zenith DVB318 (1080i) and my HTPC (1080i) that I ran into the processor via component cables and component out to my TV. When trying to use the OSD, everything...

Key Sequence for OSD menus on 1056?
              by fvoelling
              Hi,

I just got a 1056 and have it hooked up via component to a front projector. Video inputs are component (from DVD and X-box) as well. When I press "Menu", nothing happens (on the screen), and it says in the manual that you need to tell the 1056 if you are using progressive...

I am seriously considering buying a used Rotel RSP 976 pre/pro in order to upgrade my current 2 channel component system to 5.1 HT. As a novice, I have been studying for a few months, but still have much to learn and rely on advise from nice folks like you.

I am in a quandary over the...
