    Pioneer RPTV SD-643HD5

Costco has this TV for $1999 which seems like a good deal compared to what I am seeing online. Any feedback on this set from anyone? How good are Pioneers TV's?

Joel, I haven't seen these sets personally, but the general concensus is that they are getting close to the Elites in PQ - especially for the price. Being an extremely happy Elite 610 owner, that says a lot to me. Sure, you don't get the Urushi finish, but when the lights go down, who can see it?

Hey there, I have owned the Pioneer SD-582HD5 for about 4 years now and I couldnt be happier with it. I of course payed alot more than what they are going for now.

I just spent the last month looking for a new LCD/DLP to replace my aging rear projection HD Sony. I was just about to pull the trigger on the Sony 55xs995 when I spotted an ad in my local classifieds for a used Pioneer Elite Pro-520HD.

I really wasn't thrilled with the idea of going back to the big black box look...but after seeing this picture in action, I was stunned. Not only did it do HD great, but SD through s-video and even composite looked better than anything I had seen in the stores.

The PQ was much more film like and fluid compared to the newer sets. While there were some things I loved about the new technologies; brightness and size...for the price I picked this up, I am thrilled. If the newer, standard Pioneers are up to this quality, I'd get it until things settle a little more.

By the way...if anyone has any information on tweaking this set, it would be greatly appreciated. I've searched and there is very little to be found about these TVs. The contrast comes set at half...and while it looks great, is this still too high for burn-in? Thanks
