PROXIMA anyone heard of this?

My friend is driving me nuts with all these FP questions...anyway he wants to know about a Proxima desktop 5800...

Do you know about this cause he can pick it up in a pawn shop for 650.00$ Canadian....

I've heard of Proxima, but that's as far as I go. I think they are a brand that rebadges some other products, maybe...

Lex is right, they rebadge quite a bit. A lot of Sanyo stuff, as well as others.

Don't know what this model actually is. Check projectorcentral, they cross reference stuff.

OK, looked it up. This thing is old, medium bright (650 rated), lowish resolution (800x600 SVGA) and terrible contrast (100:1). I would not pay more than about $150US for it. Lamps are around $300.

The name proxima is fine. But I wouldn't buy this old thing. 100:1 contrast. Can you say horrible blacks?
