Home alone - and not the movie!

So 'The Blonde' (my wife) is away visiting her Mother for a few days as we're spending Christmas with her sister in England. Ruining my credit card no doubt.

Anyway, I'm home alone and that calls for some of my favourites to broken out (read : the movies she hates!)

So, last night I watched one of my all time favourites : 'Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb' - to give it it's full title. Kubricks finest imo!

Next up was some early episodes of 'Yes Minister' a wonderful political satire from the BBC.

Tonight I've got 'Syriana' and 'Goodnight and Good Luck' to watch. A 'Clooneyfest' so to speak. I'm not sure about tomorrow night but I feel a western or two might be called for. Perhaps 'Liberty Valence' with Jimmy Stewart....

    Vincent.

My wife LOVES Dr.Strangelove. It's anime stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Steamboy or Akira I have to wait for the mom visits to watch. Or Star Wars, which she does like, just not as often as I do.

All the titles you mentioned, Vincent, are great films. If you like movies that make you think long after the credits fade, then you'll really like Syriana.

It's one of many on my Netflix queue. (you know, I'll start a thread on that)

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

          Revisiting old favourites

I've been going through the Star Wars films with my 8 year old son in the past little while. I've always been a rather casual fan (I didn't even own the films until May) and I'd only seen the prequels once each at the cinema (a few snippets of demo material in A/V stores aside) and the original trilogy...

Do You Watch Movies Alone In Your HT ?
          by George Bellefontaine
I would say I watch movies alone about 75% of the time. My wife is not a big movie lover. She has many hobbies, especially in crafts, and this seems to keep her on the go. But the fact is, I kinda like watching stuff alone. That way I get to pick anything I want ( like the big noise-makers) and when...

          Stand alone DVR
          by ajpoe
My brother asked me if there was such a thing as a stand alone DVR. I have Tivo so i've never looked for something like this. He just wants the simplicity of recording cable to a HDD, watch it and then delete it. He doesn't even care about a guide or anything. He just wants to set recording times like...

Stand alone cd player or Rdv 1060
          by mattburk
I am almost done in putting together a great sounding systm. I have the rsp 1066 & the 1075 amp. I need a good cd player and I was thinking of just waiting for the RDV 1060 to use as a all in one player, but would it be that much better just to get a stand alone cd player like the Rcd 1070 or the...
