The remake has pretty much the same storyline as the original ( family stuck in the desert and attacked by strange beings) but with a little embellishment. What I didn't like about the remake was the excessive gore. Anyway, I just rented it to see how it compared to the original ( which I have in my collection ) and I'm satisfied that the original was the better.

I enjoyed the remake. Really didn't have a problem with the gore. Though, I was unaware, this was a remake. I'll have to rent the oringinal now."I have come here, to chew bubblegum and kickass. And I'm all out of bubblegum!!!"- Bottom

The original was released in 1977. It was written and directed by Wes Craven. I noticed his name in the credits on the remake but forget what his involvement was. Perhaps just credit for the original story. He didn't direct the remake. One of the interesting things about the original is that one of the main Hills characters ( James Whitworth, I believe ) plays the role without makeup. How you see him is actually how he looks.Originally posted by John HolmesThough, I was unaware, this was a remake. I'll have to rent the oringinal now.
Anchor bay released a special 2 disc edition in 2003 or 2004 with both a DD 5.1 and a DTS audio track.- Bottom

Dear God, another remake.
Anyway, the original Straw Dogs was directed by Sam Peckinpah and starred Dustin Hoffman. It was pretty violent and quite disturbing when I first saw it. But I like Peckinpah's work and got over the disturbing stuff. I have it in my dvd collection and have watched it several...

I'll start with the Sentinel. This film didn't really do it for me. It's okay, but I didn't get nearly as much of a rise out of it as I do from the series 24, although Kiefer Sutherland plays a similar type role to that...-

The old Universal Pictures original version of The Wolfman (1941) scared the living hell outta me the first time I saw it. And it still scares me today. The remake, starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins, is a pale version of the original. In fact, they've changed the story dramatically, and...-

In the original 1984 release, we had a nasty Rutger Hauer as the tormentor and C. Thomas Howell as the tormented. Jennifer Jason Leigh played the girl who eventually sympathizes with Howell's plight and ends up paying a high price. This was pretty good for its time and I feel it should have been left...-
