Ebert and Roeper gave it two strong thumbs up, although Roger's still sick, so a surprisingly good female critic gave her opinion instead of him. They said that it returns to the foundations of the original.

If this is true, this is VERY good news. If you haven't watched the original again, you're missing out. It is VERY, VERY good.

The first Rocky is the only one I really liked. Sort of like the Rambo series, nothing good after the first. Now if this Rocky is anything like the first, after it comes to dvd it will sit alongside Rocky 1 in my collection. However, not all critics are being kind to the latest Rocky.

On the Rotten Tomatoes website, the critics are at 77% and individuals are at - no kidding - 100% positive!

Stallone has done the near impossible he took a long time dead character, that no one cared about, that he was clearly too old to play and make us care again. It's a shame that this is the last one, but what a way to go.

I watched this last week and really enjoyed it. It you liked Rocky 1 and thought the rest were very ordinary, then I think you'll enjoy the depth and fun in this movie. And for all us guys hitting 40 and over, it's good to know we're still contenders

rocky was exceptional. Very true to the original. IMHO. A good movie. Good characters, story and what not
